Hrv 2-3x on cycling days

I do triathlon, and my hrv is relatively stable everyday, except the days I bike (purely cycling, no big runs or swimming), where it ends up 2-3x my usual days. I didnt bike monday-thursday and thats my usual hrv day to day, but the days where i did bike, i wake up with my hrv 2-3x. I did a century on the 27th, 2nd, and the 3rd. Is this just bad calculations from whoop? I also use a garmin and the readings are also in that 2-3x range. Could it be that im fueling and drinking water and electrolytes alot better on the bike, where as you cant do as much on swim run?

Edit: my heart rate is around the same everyday no matter what discipline i train. No major spikes and always in a normal range

How many watts can you buy?

Little shower thought but how many watts you can "buy" (or save) without buying a better bike? Im talking things like aero helmet, socks, sleeves, etc. say for example your next race your watt target is X + 30 (X being what your current watt output is), could you essentially buy the 30 watts with these accessories and still put out X watts to go the same speed as if you were putting out X + 30?

Educate me if im wrong but this is my current understanding of how to get "free" speed

Summer running: hold the pace or drop back?

Im more specifically talking about speedwork, I like to do 5x1k and as I get closer to peak training, it will be 10x1k. Right now im doing my intervals at my winter half marathon pace (high z3, low z4 pace), but because it is summer, heart rate is more like high z4, low zone 5 (however the effort still feels 7/10 max). My 1km interval is ran around my neighborhood, so by the time I get to 1km, I pass my house and i have to walk back to my house which takes about 90 seconds. Then i drink some electrolytes and chill for about 30-45 seconds before starting my next set (so rest time about 2-3 minutes). I definitely think im resting too long but what do you think? Also im not doing speedwork to increae vo2 max, just overall marathon pace

I also want to go from 25-30mpw to 45 by the end of my training block (13 ish weeks). Im doing this by turning my long run into 3 hours/20 miles (whatever comes first) and adding 1km speed work per week. Do you think i should drop the pace for easy runs or hold the same effort and be in z3?

When was it time to upgrade your bike?

I assume most of us started on a road bike with some clip ons but when did you realize it was time to get serious and upgrade to a tt? When you start easily passing people in 8000 dollar bikes? Did you buy used or new?

Also how long did you ride with each bike before every upgrade? Ive been doing triathlon for 6 months but am looking to upgrade to tt in 2027 when im more fit

Swim form tips

Hello reddit, do your thing please🙏

My best 1.2 mile is around 36 minutes or 1:44/100 yard but I know I can do way better than that but I need to know the things that clearly need work on.

From what I can see, my lower body is sinking i think and maybe my feet can be closer together too, and Im thinking better recovery after my stroke as well as a better catch and pull (so pretty much everything 😅).

I have about 15 weeks before my first full and im aiming for sub 1:10 swim, but my reach goal is 1-1:05. Thanks alot

70.3 to 140.6 tips

I just completed 70.3 western mass and had alot of pain behind my knee toward the bottom of my hamstring. Im going to get a new bike fit but in the mean time, what can I be doing to recover and get back to training since i have a full ironman on october 17. Since the race, I have only been swimming and trying not to move alot, after a few days of rest it feels more like an ache and an annoyance. If anyone has experienced anything similar, when I fully lengthen my leg I feel achiness in that area and also when i bend my knee to where my calf is touching my hamstring

How do you add more mileage on the run?

Im convinced the only way to get faster is obviously to run more, but I am not sure where to add mileage in my split, considering I also swim 5x and bike 6x. I am also convinced that zone 2 does not work at all unless youre an elite triathlete who runs more than 50-60 miles (~85-100km) a week. That being said, in my head, the only way to get faster is tempo and threshold runs, but how can I do this and also add more mileage per week without harming my swim and bike training? I swim 10-13k yards, 8 hours on the bike, 4-5 hours running covering 25-30 miles.

Before you ask how Im able to train so much, im a college grad with free time waiting to start my job in 6 months. Also before you question why im asking a stupid question, im 6 months in to triathlon with no background in anything

Edit: thank you all for the advice, ive been deeply humbled. I am going to make my sessions longer and reduce frequency so I can make more room for running and will add more zone2

As the title mentions, I am signed up for IM Cascais in october (i got a while), this will be my first full and maybe first triathlon ever. I have been training seriously since November (as that is when i started swimming), and went from being unable to complete a lap to finishing 4200 yards nonstop in about 79 minutes (1:52-53/100yd). I've been running on and off for 2 years but have been dialed in on running for the past 6 months so I am not worried about that either. However, I am worried about the bike leg. I've been training indoors since December because of the weather but now that the weather is nice I decided to go out and try biking outside for the first time since I was a kid. Needless to say it is alot harder than I remember, and it is difficult to even ride with only 1 hand on the handle, let alone eat and drink on the bike. I was considering doing 70.3 Western Massachusetts in 5 weeks but with my current bike handling skills, it may not be worth it. Any tips on bike handling and skills I can practice? Thanks alot.

Edit: I am using a regular road bike off fb marketplace and have clip on aero bars but Im not even going to consider using them for the 70.3 until I can ride confidently on regular handles
