I'm good at video editing, but I'm struggling to get clients. How do you find yours?

Hi everyone,

I'm a student and I've been doing video editing for quite some time. I'm confident in my editing skills and can work on different types of videos, including reels, shorts, social media content, cinematic edits, and YouTube videos.

The problem is not the editing itself—it's finding clients.

I've tried posting my work on social media, but I'm not getting many inquiries. Since I'm still building my freelance career, I want to know how experienced editors and freelancers actually find clients consistently.

Some questions I have:

• Which platforms are best for getting video editing clients?

• Is cold DMing on Instagram, LinkedIn, or email still effective?

• How do you approach potential clients without sounding spammy?

• What type of portfolio attracts more clients?

• If you were starting from scratch today, what would be your strategy?

I'm willing to do the outreach myself and put in the effort. I just want to understand what actually works in the current market.

Any advice, personal experiences, or success stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
