Our club has been hosting CKC Sprinter tests since 2019 and every so often the talk of electronic timers. When I did my original search for them they were ridiculously expensive for what the club would get out of them.

So we've been using timers with stopwatches. Typically using 6 people per trial for timers, plus the starters. It's a lot of volunteers for the weekend and we usually don't have a problem.

Talk of electronic timers has come up again so I'm looking again.

Our set up is as follows:

Mowed prairie grass track, usually dry and dusty, about 2-3 inches tall. Fencing is permanent posts with livestock fencing that its taken down at the end of the year (2 weekends of trials). The trial precedents are fully fenced with livestock fencing as well. The field is dry so the only electricity is the electricity we bring via solar panels or gas generators. So I have no worries about having solid posts to mount anything on. Since 2019 we've had maybe two days of rain during trial weekends. It's usually ridiculously hot and sunny.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for systems that would work for us at sprinter and potentially at agility/rally. Requirements as follows:

-waterproof/heat tolerant - basically outdoor Canadian prairies proof

-easy set up/tear down

-compact and durable for transport

-reliable and basically techno-idiot proof

-can run off solar or generator

Preference of course would be given to Canadian manufacturers/suppliers (we're still ABA here).
