mistakes were made but the love outweighs my rational decision making- so this guy is staying for life <3 (yes- I know their tank requirements)

Need to get some caves for my bristlenoses I’m raising, I do want them to breed eventually. Whats everyone’s favorite type?
Hi guys! Wanted to do something fun so drop a pic in the comments and I’ll pick the 3 rarest plecos. If you use an ai pic or a google pic you will be disqualified. The 3 winners will be given exclusive user flairs (just like how I have “Pleco enthusiast 🤙” whenever I comment in this sub)
I’ll pick winners on Monday July 6th at 12 pm (pacific standard time)
Morning all,
Wondering whether we think I have room for a bristlenose?
I have a 35gal 3ft tank:
- 12 Albino Corys
- 1 Bolivian Ram
- 6 Otos
- 4 Nerites
- 20 Cardinal Tetras
Tidal 75 HOB
Planted with plenty of driftwood and a cave that I made for my shrimp who all escaped :(
What do we think?
We bought a 15 gallon tank that was fully stocked. As I read more about each species I learned that you need to feed you pleco. Makes sense. I immediately bought some higher quality food I saw being recommended here. Now that shes being fed shes going insanely fast. How will I know when to move her out of her current tank?
We have a 25 gallon mini pond that is temp controlled, predator proof, etc for her to go in next. Its fully established and balanced. When we move we are hoping to put in a larger pond. She will have a good home with us, but I want to know when to make the right call.
Thank you.
Yellow Pleco in a whirlpool. He looks happy about it.
I have a rubber lip and a clown pleco in a 40 gallon. My question is do i need to upgrade the tank for them? i have 11 other fish in the tank however they are tetras so they aren’t very big, are they okay to stay in my 40 gal??
Was sold this plecco by a big box store as a bn plecco 6+ months ago. I can’t tell if it’s a common plec and will outgrown this 29g tank or if it’s a bn. Anyone have any input?
Water parameters are fine, she is in a tank with another male bn, 3 gouramis, a couple weather loaches and hillstreams, and a bunch of corys
So I started with a female calico bushynose and later on added a male lemon bushynose and these are the results even though everything says they were more likely to revert back to "wild" type wondering if I got something special here
Found a 3.5 inch L333 for $20 and a male and female slate pleco at $50 for both! I think it was a steal what do you think?
Look how wide his eyes are 😂😭😂
Also is the fork method safe I’ve heard mixed options
Hi all, I just recently moved into a house with two other people, one of them has this fish tank they have had for a few years, when I moved in I was told everything in it had died and it was just... still running and using power.
Thank god it was still all on though because two nights ago I was sitting on the couch and saw a dark shape flash through the tank... went to investigae and found this beautiful little pleco. Is alive !!! Today I went to check on it and the tank felt unusually warm, I checked the temp it was at 90 degrees ! I looked up and searched results said that plecos only live between 70-80 so I turned down the heater ASAP and opened the lid of the tank for ventilation.
I am so concerned bout the pleco bc I dont know how long it's been in those temps, can't get any judge on it's health by looking at it... ?? If I asked i am sure the owner would 100% be open to cleaning and rehabilitating the tank with my help and i definitely want to, so any suggestions would be appreciated, anything additional that can be done for the pleco right now, what gallon tank this is, it says Eclipse on it, cleaning advice, what kind of substrate for the pleco or if those pebbles are okay?
I have a little experience with basic fish/ tank care, I used to have a betta for a few years, had goldfish, crawdads XD , some snakes, a lizard... but it has been years since those times so ..
Sorry for the bad picture, the pleco is hiding out and really hard to get a photo of.
Thank you in advance everyone !
*update as I write this post i went to check the temp of the water it is slowly dropping, the pleco has actually moved and when I went and shined my light on it it moved around some more. Hoping that's a good sign
She’s active, and behaves normally, I have a male, but he’s a newbie, and a bit small, also, I seen them fighting, so they’ re not gonna breed soon
Meet Paul. Paul is a bachelor who lives in a cave I built for him. He’s super chill with me but when any of his tank mates are outside he gets they “get off my lawn” treatment.
I recently adopted Paul and his tank. Which subspecies is he? I was told he’s a bristle nose but he’s such a cave dweller (he almost never comes out voluntarily) and he has no bristles.
Watch the video to see him evict Sally the snail.
It's been a few months with these babies. Trying to hurry up with their home upgrade 😆 so many babies. I'll definitely be rehoming as many as I can. In the meantime I enjoy the cuteness.
