Throttle no longer working after period of inactivity?

I am using a modified Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS - including a TQS with hall sensors, new 4-way microswitches and converter to standalone USB with an ATMega32 board.

This is all setup through MMJoy2 and has been working fine with Falcon BMS, etc.

The last time I used it was March this year and I decided today to fire it all up again and get back into flying BMS.

BMS can see my Cougar stick but not my throttle. I go into MMJoy2 and see the Device ID for my TQS but not the same I’ve given it. It’s clearly not interacting with the USB device.

Reboots, restarts, unplug, replug, swapping USB ports and some cursing later…. Nothing.

In MMjoy2 I try reloading the saved firmware for the TQS back into device - which gives me a compatibility error and then a device error for all the ~16 EPROMS it’s trying to write to. (??)

So my next step is take the TQS apart but …. Is this normal? Did the ATMega32 just die on me or something?

Has anyone had a similar issue before?

Key repair on old MBP

One of our macbook pros (an oldie from 2013) suffered the wraith of our cat which ended up yanking a key cap off the keyboard. (The cat was fine).

As the MBP itself is all fine, I would like to restore it to service again. I think it’s still complete, the silicon dome is there and the hinge mechanism is still in the key cap off- but I’m not sure how to fit it again? Specifically, how do I get the little plastic bits through the round metal holes as the cap obstructs my view?

Do I need to remove the white plastic hinge from the cap and fit that first?

Any pointers would be appreciated!

Eagle action at Hohn Airbase (Air Defender 2023)

Both the F-15C and the photographer were a long way from home, but Air Defender 2023 was well worth it. One of my favorite shots from my trip to Northern Germany - hard to believe that was 3 years ago already.

I've been using a set of TP Line Powerline adapters (TL-WPA8631P) to extend our WiFi coverage to a remote part of our house.

I've got the main adapter plugged in at my office where it is plugged into my main router by Ethernet. The WiFi access point adapter is plugged into a wall socket down the hallway in the other part of the house and acts as WiFi access point for the rooms there.

Throughput has been fine and I've had this setup for a few years now and it has been working just fine... until recently.

The Access Point module (not sure how you call it) started losing connection to the main adapter. So I unplugged it, took it to my office and did the re-pairing dance with the main adapter and put it back again. This solved the problems for a random period of time .......and then it lost connection again.

Sometimes the connection light is off so it's clear it can't find the main adapter anymore but other times it's showing all 3 lights but... no connection. In the TP-Link utility, it only shows one adapter (the main one) but then the web admin interface won't show and I need to turn the main adapter on and off to get it to show again.

I've updated the firmware to the latest available - which didn't help.

Is there any particular reason why it would behave this way? I suspect one of the adapters may have gone faulty perhaps?

There has been no change to the electrical wiring in my house, so I see no reason why that suddenly would be causing this issue?

Has anyone had similar issues with TP Link Powerline adapters? I know some have a dim view of them but in the previous years, they have worked as advertised and while the throughput may not have been the fastest, it certainly resulted in a usable WiFi connection at the other end of the house.

We found this dog running loose around Taita College, on the Eastern Hutt Road, dodging traffic (or rather traffic trying to dodge him! 😳)

We were unable to find the owner, so we’ve taken him home and made a vet appointment around noon to see if he’s chipped.

I’m not sure of his dietary requirements so we’ve just made sure he has water.

Is this dog familiar to anyone? We hope the vet will be able to identify dog and owner.
