Session replay for humans & machines

Session replay for humans & machines

Hi everyone,

I use session replays a lot in my role but not all recordings are equal and I think the tools could be better. A lot of the existing tools have grown into huge 1,000 feature bloatware imo and replays are treated as optional add ons, and even then they don't feel native to modern day workflows e.g. how are users exploiting these sessions with Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini?

So I built https://UserTapes.com as a session replay tool for both humans & machines. It still captures a video for you to watch, but also provides a clean text transcript for your AI agents.

You can watch your tapes, chat with them in the browser, or connect to the MCP server and ask your agent of choice to watch, review, and investigate based on whatever you tell it.

You can ask questions about your entire site or specific videos, like:

"Did any users fail to complete sign up today?"

Your agent instantly reads the transcript and replies:

"Yes, User #3829 hesitated for 30 seconds, typed an expired discount code, hit a validation error, and quit. Watch the exact 5 seconds of the tape here: [Link]"

I would love to get your feedback on the concept. There’s a free tier to try out if anyone’s interested. Thanks!

Qualitative vs quantitive churn data

So I think churn data is great at showing what is happening, but can often be really bad at showing us why it's happening. I used to think a lot of data was obviously a good thing but it can also be really good at hiding valuable insights.

When a user cancels, they usually click the first button they see just to get to the confirmation page. Acting on that "data" is dangerous because it’s up for total misinterpretation.

We focus on real, quality user feedback at the early stage of the product lifecycle and tend to drift towards only analysing quantitive data quite quickly. I think there's still a tonne of value to be uncovered by sticking to the fundamentals and doing "marketing that doesn't scale". There's nuggets of insights from raw customer feedback when an app plateaus can help teams teams push through and understand what growth levers to pull.

I've built an app to replace the conventional cancellation survey to try and surface more of that qualitative data. Instead of the default button or meaningless drop downs, churning users can leave you a quick voice note with their raw authentic feedback.

Would love to know what the B2B SaaS community thinks of this approach and if they have any anecdotal evidence of how it has or hasn't worked for them. Roast the landing page (or better yet, leave me a voice note feedback!):

I built a tool to get better feedback

So I think most cancellation surveys don't work very well. People just click whatever is easiest and no amount of data will show you that.

I've been thinking about 'marketing that doesn't scale' ideas because I think they're often the most insightful way for founders/teams to find out exactly what is/isn't working, or better yet, who are/are not their customers. Things like exit interviews for example. As your biz grows you can't meet every customer (and nor will they want to meet you) but I bet you'd get so much more insight from speaking to them than any dashboard ever says.

So with that said I thought about a novel (I think) sorta scalable way for customers to let you know what they think: rather than clicking a dropdown, just let them record a quick voice note.

Would love some feedback (leave me a voice note on the demo!)
