Hi there!
My partner and I picked up the Wilds Unknown pack with two decks and have been having a lot of fun playing with it. This is my first TCG and I can't believe how much fun I'm having with it. I'm really enjoying having a hobby that isn't staring at a screen.
We even went to our local hobby store and sifted tons of bulk cards and picked out a bunch that matched our current decks!
But if I'm being honest, I am very overwhelmed because there are so many cards & possibilities!
All of the research that I've done has revealed that "good" or "competitive" decks seem to always have a lot of multiples of just a few cards, with 60 or less cards seeming to be very common.
However, my question is, is it possible to have a deck that plays well that has lots of different cards in it & has more than 60 cards in it?
The reason I don't want to have that type of deck is because my favorite part of playing has been seeing all the different characters, items, actions & abilities, and figuring out how I can put together some sort of strategy or synchronicity with the cards that I am pulling.
And personally, I feel like I will get more satisfaction out of a win that I had to actively in the moment strategize for rather than just having a deck that I have to keep following the same sequence in order to win.
I'm definitely not looking to get into tournaments or anything rn because I'm so new into the TCG world, but I am interested in going to my local hobby store and playing with other people because they have a Lorcana night every Tuesday and you can play for free! I even made friends with one of the people that work there that that plays so I'm very excited!
But I'm also super nervous because I know people are going to have really amazing decks that they've been working on for a while. And I know probably a lot of people build their deck specifically to be hard to beat.
So I guess my big question is what advice do you have for me and do you think it's possible for me to play competitively at my hobby store with a more chaos style deck, if you will?
Also, my deck is currently Amethyst & Ruby. And I have really been enjoying that combo although I would say that the amethyst is my favorite out of everything. I love how magical, fun, and whimsical the cards and abilities are!
So if you have any advice for me or things you think I should add or keep out of my deck I would love to hear it!
Also, I'm sure there's people that are just going to tell me that it might be silly to even try to do this instead of just trying to build a super strong deck. But unfortunately, I just don't think that is as fun.
I realize if I wanted to enter a tournament, I would probably need to build a specific deck and have multiples of powerful cards but I'm not really at that point right now
Thanks in advance💜
