Lorcana Digital Is Coming, Here’s My Wish List ✨

Now that a Disney Lorcana digital game is officially in the works, here’s my early wish list. These are just a few things I think could really make the game feel like Disney Lorcana instead of just another digital card game.

Songs / Actions / Animations

Songs should be a huge part of the experience. If I play a Song like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” I’d love to hear a short clip or chorus from it, with Actions getting their own unique effects too. Animations should be everywhere, from picking up a card in your hand to playing or moving it on the board. I want the cards to feel alive. Voice acting would be amazing too and is one of those things that can really set a digital card game apart.

Collecting

I hope collecting feels rewarding without being way too easy. I’d love a Pokémon TCG Pocket-style system with a free pack every 12 hours where you can choose the set you want to open. Packs should still be the main way to collect, but I’d also like some kind of Pixie Dust or crafting system where duplicates can eventually help you unlock missing Legendaries, Enchanteds, or other cards.

What would be on your wish list?

Is it just me, or is this game... Actually fun?

I see a lot of complaints about the upcoming collector boosters, serialized cards, and scalpers...

I just played for the first time at a store event, and I had a blast. The gameplay was way better than I expected, and the chance of a non-game was too much lower than with MtG.

And you know what else? You can have a very competitive experience with a low-cost deck! I have played MtG for years and always accepted that I'll never have expensive shock lands and pricey mythics. But when I wheeled up with my penny decks, they actually competed with some of my opponents! It was amazing!

So I guess what I'm saying is: there may be some stuff going wrong, but Lorcana has got a lot of things going right for it. And that's awesome.

Winnie the Pooh: Wizards and Woozles

An art piece I made with 10 Lorcana cards glued to a canvas, painted, and covered with epoxy. This used most of my Winnie the Pooh cards. 🥹

Can I play a new ralph with vine pod?

If I have 1 ralph out and use vine pod. Does everything get banished and then the new ralph comes into play?

Father & Son looking for a place to start..

Hello!

I first want to say, I've been lurking on this subreddit & community for quite a while and I love how supportive everyone is with their advice and time. With that said, I've come to call upon it myself. My son has shown a big interest in all things Disney much like his mother & I (Annual Passholders etc) and I thought this would be a good "Non-Screen" game to play together.

I want to have a hobby together with my kids so that hanging out and talking through the non talkative years becomes easier. I want to set that foundation now. I have a few questions to ask to help get us on track.

Do I start with the current boxes?

Should I go back and try to collect set 1 first?

Is purchasing a trove the best route?

Where did you get started?

I do not know how to play 100% yet but it seems like local card shops are the best bet, does that still ring true?

What shops/online stores do you find are the most fair value or close to MSRP?

Finally, What digital tracker do you use for your collection? There are so many, I just want to use the most adopted well built one.

Thank you all for your time & answers!

Could you recommend an LGS or community in the South Bay area of San Diego?

Coming from Switzerland having visited the US for D23, I’d love to meet some Lorcana players for casual gaming before I head back home by the end of this month.

Is there any LGS or Lorcana gaming community that you know of around the South Bay area of San Diego? Or, if not here I can always take an Uber somewhere if it’s not reasonably far.

I brought a deck with me and also have Lorcana stuff from the D23 expo. It’s been fun so far!

Regional Facebook Groups?

Hi folks! I’m looking to build up my local Lorcana community and I was looking at starting a New York Capital Region Facebook group.

Lorcana NY Capital Region Community-https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1HEfgmizuo/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I’m open to other adding their own community’s links here too.

Thoughts? Additions? Am I missing a different spot where Lorcana communities tend to come together online?

I’m open to input

Set popularity?

How come the only sets I can find in Australia are 5-8 unless I want to fork out double the money? New to Lorcana so apologies if this is a stupid question and it’s wildly known they were printed in to the ground or just a lot less popular characters in them.
Thank you for entertaining a TCG noob like myself.

Hiii everyone, i'm interested in playing Lorcana, semi-competitively, what is the best way to get a somewhat "proper" deck together?

In the other 2 TCGs i play Pokemon and Onepiece, getting a good deck is pretty easy thanks to decent pre-constructed decks that are easy and generally not that expensive to upgrade into something playable for locals (my locals is somewhat serious but still, i get good results for my budget with these upgraded precons).

In Lorcana what would be a good way to get a decent deck going for not that expensive? pre-constructed + upgrades? if so which ones? or should i just start from scratch?

D23 - Lackluster Quests Ahead Presentation?

I just wanted to get my thoughts out there about the Quests Ahead panel they showed. I keep seeing people say they nailed it and are really listening to the community after seeing this presentation.

I'm curious as to exactly why that is. Compared to the prior d23 which had teasers and reveals for IPs and cards on the horizon, this one showed relatively little. It felt very focused on pushing the new collectors booster boxes and new collector sets, and then ended on the digital client announcement which is massive but it's really just kind of a statement is all.

The competitive play announcements seem to indicate a better season than season 2 at least but the new Store Changes to different tiering systems is also somewhat concerning.

I ultimately just wish we had seen more of what was coming on the Horizon than trying to push various exclusive and high-end products for us to purchase. Does anyone feel the same way?

Three years ago today, August 18, 2023, Disney Lorcana first released in game stores. It has now officially been three years since that day. In that time, this game has become a constant part of my everyday life and I’m grateful that I get to keep playing, collecting, and interacting with Lorcana and the community today. Happy anniversary Lorcana. Happy anniversary, y’all. To many more.

Lorcana hangouts?

I know official competitions and events need to be at game stores but do you any of you set up way more casual meetups and hangouts other places to build your local community?

I guess I’m looking for tips and advice on building my local Lorcana community because it feels like a desert lol

Had our AOTV collection quest at our LGS today. The store didn’t receive a single pack for the quest. They also only received 15 quest cards, but 30 promo cards.

They said that they told all their local regulars to bring their collections to complete the quest. Fortunately we brought ours but others did not. We all just kind of let others pull the cards from our collections to get the promo card.

Which I will say, the LGS just gave everyone that completed the quest and promo and didn’t charge anything. That was really awesome.

During the GameStop/ebgames collection quest the stores that didn’t have packs still made people pay the cost of 3 packs to get the promo card.

I will say though, why is Ravensburger promoting/hosting these events and NOT sending the necessary product to the stores.

Want to play, not collect - where to buy singles? TCGPlayer was a bust..

I made a bunch of decks on dreamborn.ink none of there over $8 - hit "shop cards" and the cheapest deck was over $115!!! $108 in shipping to like 35 accounts.

WTAF!?!?! What to do to play? It seems like a complete waste of time to make 100s of proxy cards for Commons
