Leaf drop?

Leaf drop?

This Shadow King is a new addition, is it just being dramatic/leaf drop? I’ve plucked a few male flowers and (I think) did some hand pollinating. I’ve trimmed it a few times to take off the most damaged-looking leaves, but did i shock it? Kind of been sparing and taking a few days between minor prunes. Most of the side-mid leaves are bright and firm, it looks like the top-most is struggling. Maybe less light? It gets morning sun/afternoon shade-evening. This spot gets good airflow and I haven’t watered it much since I repotted it—I think maybe once to settle some of the dirt.

Also, I think one or two of the females did take on pollination??

Look at them!!

Finally have my begonia trio! An Angle wing, a Rex-escargot type, and a frosty Rex!! I’m so in loveeeee!! I moved the frost Rex towards the fence bc it was getting a little too much sun in its first spot. Cleaned up the pruning, watered them, and gave them an early morning rinse! The water evaporated by the time to sun was out—I don’t go too crazy on the rinsing.

Newest addition!!!!

I just bought this GORGEOUS Rex begonia, repotted nicely and hardly needed pruning. Not only that.. ITS MY FIRST FLOWERING BEGONIAAAA—the tag says Shadow King Rose Frost, is that right? Also, is that a seed pod in my hand? It was resting around a live little branch with other flowers still in bloom.

Genuinely if that’s a seed pod I might cry in joy, this is my happiest find yet!!!!!!💜🤍💜🤍🤴🏻

Can all begonias flower?

I have two, an angel wing and a Rex. I’ve seen lots of other begonias that have flowered in this subreddit. Can all of them flower depending on care and environment? (This pic is a bit old—pruning and growth have been fantastic)

Edit: if yours do, how did you get them to bloom?

Pruning help?

Pruning tips?? One side of the Rex (the “front” of the pot) has rhizomes coming up and the other side has bigger leaves that look narrowed/not fully flatted like the others? It’s recently new and these are the first spring shoots since it’s been replanted. It’s planted with an Angel wing, which has leaves and canes that have cleared the soil line (none laying in the dirt). These are my first two and so far have been growing fantastic. All of the rhizomes and shoots look strong and healthy, I just don’t know how to prune a rhizome-style begonia?

Any sort of tips and advice are absolutely appreciated!

Mushroom in my begonias???????

Watered my begonias yesterday (see my page for a pic of the full pot/setup) and this morning there is a tiny mushroom growing under my Angel wing near the edge of the terracotta pot ?????????

Like, it’s tiny, and the only one I saw. Wtf????? What does this mean??????? I’ve never had mushrooms spontaneously appear in a potted plant😭

The pot rotates to keep growth even, gets plenty of sun and airflow, and my plants also house many beneficial spiders too.

Diet help!!

My oldest boy has lymphoma and has been taking prednisone (he loves it so much—it’s chicken flavored). But I’ve noticed he’s had loose poops and my other two seem to have it sometimes too. My vet suggested a fiber additive but I don’t know where to look.

Any suggestions/reviews will be immensely appreciated. They have dried chicken treats in the morning (since our oldest gets a treat after his meds). I’ve kind of looked but I don’t really know what I’m looking for entirely. Do small animal formulations work? Do they have to be a treat or supplement??

Pls pls help 😓

Morning sun 🌞

The sun this morning is making my begonias look simply magical😍😍 Also!! In the pic with the little heart is a tiny marbled orb weaver resident that has taken to my Rex, Jane’s, leaves happily, my plant dreams are shaping up amazingly😌🤞🏼

My lovely new begonias!!

I’m new to plant care and finally got two of my dream kinds of begonias; a Cane and a Rex. I potted them together and I stay very vigilant on their needs so I can hopefully keep them in this terracotta pot for a few years (give or take lol).

Any advice or comments are more than welcome—my Rex also has a resident marbled orb weaver!

Small edit lol: the Angel wing cane is named Christina and the Rex is named Jane🤭🤭
