How old is Percy?

We purchased Percy from a small reptile shop. He was listed as 2-3 months old but he seems extra small. Here he is next to a Fire Tv remote.

He hasn't even shed his marking from his clutch, only eats about 5 BSFL and 2 dubias daily. He occasionally eats greens but it's usually just a lick.

He seems to be very active and curious but I feel he is younger than they said. When we got Giorgio at 3 months he was a lot bigger and would eat about $6 a day in bugs I remember spending like $150/mo because he ate so much.

Percy

Meet Percy, they are super tiny and look a little ridiculous in a 4x2x2 enclosure.

**The max humidity was a reading from when we turned off everything after Giorgio passed last month, we sanitized everything and put it in a plastic bin**

Papa Giorgio

Giorgio passed away on Friday. He had been battling what we hoped was pneumonia and not a clot or mass in his right lung.

We knew it was something very aggressive because his right lung looked worse between our 1st x-ray and 2nd x-ray only 4 days later ( 4 days into treatment) but the vet wanted us to complete the treatment.

Our vet was kind but gave very little instructions or direction on how to manage Giorgio's comfort while at home.

We kept him warm and comfortable for nearly 2 weeks, adding a DHP light for night, little ramps around his entire enclosure to allow him to prop himself etc.

On Friday after his injection he looked tired. He went to his favorite corner and propped himself up to bask. We decided to leave the house to give him 2 hours of silence to rest. We put a camera on him, he looked peaceful, sleeping. He never woke up.

His heat lamp may be off but the light and warmth he brought to our hearts will never go out.

I wanted to thank this community, I've learned so much over the last 2 years.

We took Giorgio to the vet after some very concerning issues (lethargic, excessive black bearding, not eating and sleeping weird and moving around at night)

Our treatment plan below cost $281. I want to post this so people who haven't taken a beardie to the vet ever/in a while can see it isn't that expensive to keep our scaly friends healthy. An annual check up is $81.

The vet felt a large mass in his abdomen and suggested an x-ray. We did the x-ray and found he had no obstruction, great bone density but had patchy lungs, likely a secondary infection due to parasites.

Giorgio had no typical respiratory signs labored breathing, foam, open mouth breathing etc and if it wasn't looking for an obstruction we would have missed it and maybe lost him.

He also passed a huge bm during the X-ray and the lump on his abdomen was gone.

We started oral dewormer and antibiotics injections every 48hrs for 12 days. If there is no improvement we may do an additional round of antibiotics.

The vet requested photos of our enclosure, lights, detailed review of our diet etc. so helpful to know our hard work over the last 2 years has given Giorgio the best chance to fight this infection.

Send good vibes to our little guy 😭

DDS* Is it normal for additional assessments to be cancelled? Is it a negative thing or does it mean they have enough evidence to make a positive determination?

What happens next if our child is approved? Should I start gathering the financial documents? Am I assuming a positive outcome too soon?

Background

We applied in January. Did initial intake and provided documentation of the minor child's disability. We received a request for 2 assessment dates (multiple tests to be conducted in each)

We attended the first session 2 weeks ago. We were there for a very short time. The doctor told me he was confirming the diagnosis, he only spoke to my husband about our child's history (alone) following the exam, which I thought was odd because I'm usually the historian, gave some insight on therapies to continue and said we should take advantage of respite services and continue doing what we are doing with our kid.

We received a confirmation call from the second clinician, and a letter reminding us of the date then we received a third communication cancelling the second assessment.
