Damaged 18-150 kit lens

Apparently, my grandson was able to yank my R7 off a table and fling it. I’m told it hit the floor lens first and lens snapped off. I just got home and the plastic lens mount fins on the back are snapped off and lens, obviously, doesn’t mount properly. The good news is that the R7 appears to be ok. I put another lens on and took test shots and it focuses fine and pics look fine. Two questions: a) is the lens worth sending to Canon or should I just eat it and look for a refurbished or something else (I’m not in love with the lens, but appreciate the zoom versatility) b) anything else I should check or do with the R7 to make sure there’s not hidden damage? \~Thanks for any input.
