Does anyone else hate the red and beige checkerboard? I feel it's so random, doesn't help visually, and also should match the purple coloured theme if anything?

I'm going on holiday to Japan and would like to write down what we do each day, stick in mementos, and maybe do some sketching/art in a notebook.

I did this once before on a holiday and it was a really nice souvenir. I used a Moleskine then and just used pen/paper & glue.

However, any recommendations for a notebook which is easy to write in but has sturdy enough paper to hold a small bit of watercolour would be greatly appreciated (I'm not fussed about a bit of bleeding) 🙏

I'm based in the UK so any brands which are readily available here or ship here for not too much money would be ideal 😊
