Termination due to ill health
I have been on leave from the ANU since April 2025. I have done an ill health assessment with a psychiatrist and the workplace is too high a risk for my mental health. I have received a Total and Permanent Disability payment through my super and am receiving disability government payments. It has been stated that due to my significant past trauma that that is the reason for my mental break down last year. A recent phone call told me that maybe the ANU isnt a good fit for me and other roles in my classification of 2/3 would involve the same tasks such as mutliskilling and meeting deadlines (i previously worked at the ANU during 2009-2014). In saying this, directly before i started working in this position i was working full time (got made redundant) and was meeting deadlines daily, making real things happen quicker than any decision anyone at the ANU can make, and would aim to turn around $100,000 a month for a small business. I was unemployed during 2015-2018 due to significant trauma. Since this employment, and the governance of the university in general, i now have this diagnosis and have been told i can resign or be terminated due to ill health. A seperation agreement is currently being discussed to present to me. This was never entered as a psycosocial injury. There is quite a bit more to this situation around the workplace culture and environment, this was a significant aggrevation to my mental health, i dont really know what to do, whether to just accept what they offer me or take it further and risk losing my disability benefits. I dont really know what im going to do in general. This has been a huge impact to my wellbeing.
