Feeling really lost

Hi there. I started developing hand pain about two years ago, which spread to other joints as time passed. For the past year, I’ve been in pain nearly every single day. The fatigue is so bad some days I can’t sit up. I took time out of university, with just one semester left, because I couldn’t find the energy to work, and my brain fog was too bad to write my essays and do work. I was sure that by the time next January rolls around, doctors would’ve found out what’s wrong with me and I’d be getting treatment that improved my symptoms.

Doctors thought it was RA for a long time, but after multiple ultrasounds and X-rays, no inflammation could be found. I don’t have swelling either. I did have an effusion on my knee, but I’m overweight so the rheumatologist just put it down to that. She just sent a letter saying she thinks it’s fibro. Correct me if I’m wrong, but my understanding of fibro has always been that it’s a diagnosis you get when they can’t really put another chronic pain label on it. On top of this, fibro doesn’t have any real treatments from my understanding.

I’m meant to start university again in January. Since I took time out I’ve just been getting worse and worse. There’s been nights I’ve been crying to my husband to cut my hands off, I’m just in so much pain I just want them off. I feel like my rheumatologist never took my pain seriously and didn’t understand how badly this is effecting me. I just don’t know what’s wrong. I didn’t want this to be the answer, just SOMETHING with a treatment that treats the root cause, rather than just painkillers. The painkillers obviously don’t help the fatigue or brain fog. I’m feeling so very lost and I’m scared now I won’t be able to finish university. I feel like a failure. I’ve been a house wife for these past months. I can barely clean most days. I feel like such a failure. My husband had to help me eat the other day, and he has to do housetasks after a long day at work whilst I’ve been home all day. He says it’s fine, does it with a smile, but I feel like such a burden. I just don’t know what to do anymore.

Anyone else on a high dose?

I feel like every dose I see on here is fairly low. I’ve been on 300mg for a while. (Previously 150mg and then 250mg). It’s working incredibly, only side effects are sweats really. But is this ridiculously high?

Would it be permissible to for me to write Allah’s name in henna on my hands/arms

Salaam alaikum. I was considering writing alhamdullilah or bismillah or some other form of praise to Allah in henna on me but I’m not sure if it’s permissible. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t let my Sib into the bedroom, is he going to get lonely?

We got a Siberian because both me and my husband are allergic to cats. I have absolutely no reaction to him, but my husband will get itchy eyes, sneezing, etc. it’s not super bad but obviously we want to avoid that and so we decided to keep the bedroom a cat free zone so he can go somewhere without being overwhelmed by allergy symptoms.

My worry is that my poor boy gets lonely at night. 9/10 nights he will meow outside the door for 2-10 minutes. I tend to wake up sometime during the night and spend time with him then but I really worry he’s getting lonely at nights. Should we just let him in? Or is there any other way to ensure he’s not getting lonely during sleeping hours? Any advice would be great

How long did it take for your Sib to learn their name?

My boy is 4 months old and we’ve had him for 2 weeks now. He will occasionally look up if I say his name but I don’t know if he’s just looking because a noise is being made or if he is starting to understand. Cat pic tax paid

Feeling very lost and abandoned by doctors

Hi, sorry if this isn’t appropriate for this sub but idk where else to say this. It’s rant really.

About a year ago I developed pain in my hands. For a couple years before I had pain in my knees but only during my period. I’ve been going through testing for RA for at least 6 months now, and had a meeting with my rheumatologist the other day. I have an X-ray show an effusion on my knee and an ultrasound show some inflammation in my thumb. I’m so confused by my results because I’m in enormous amounts of pain nearly daily. My rheumatologist basically said since I don’t appear to have swelling on any joints there’s nothing she can do for me. And didn’t offer any follow up or advice on what to do from here on out. I accept it’s probably not RA, but couldn’t she have suggested something else or some other testing to see what it is?

I just feel like this is all a massive waste of time. Literally all she said is since I’m overweight that might explain the issue with my knee(s) and said yea that doesn’t fit with the hand pain and other joints but idk. What do I even do at this point. I feel like no one wants to help me with the pain and stiffness.

I got him yesterday and he’s never eaten a treat I’ve offered. When I put his wet and dry food out (different times) he’ll eat a little bit and come back later and eat a little more etc etc so will finish it in like. 5 hours or so. I follow the serving instructions for a kitten his age. Is this normal? Is he just getting used to the new house and won’t eat much because of that? Or is it just his personality
