How early is too early to start laundry on the weekends?

I am a morning person, and like to do my laundry as early in the mornings as possible to get it done and out of the way. I've been playing it safe the last few weeks and doing my laundry in the early afternoon, but I genuinely hate waiting that long. I'm leaning towards about 7am to start my first load.

Quiet hours in my building start at 11pm Sunday-Thursday (when we have classes the next day), and 1am Friday and Saturday (technically Saturday and Sunday morning), but there's no hard end it's just "use your best judgement."

Meanwhile, I'm in bed by 9 to get up at 5 every morning (because I need a while to fully be mentally functioning in the morning (it's an issue no matter when I get up, and is why I get up so early in the first place), and even a day off will screw up my sleep schedule for weeks).

I'm not going to be doing laundry that early on weekdays, because I don't have time most mornings, this is purely a Saturday/Sunday thing because that's when I have time to do my laundry.

The sound proofing in the laundry room is pretty good, you can't really hear the machines going unless you're right outside the door and even then it's very muffled.

I can't easily keep an eye on the laundry room and just wait for someone else to start theirs, because the laundry room is on a different floor and honestly the elevator is even louder, so that going up and down every ten minutes is going to be a lot worse.

What's the saddest thing in the series you can think of that wasn't explicitly stated?

The first one that comes to mind is that there's a three year age difference between Mira and Brennan, and the apostasy happened when Brennan was a brand new Lieutenant.

Meaning there is a very good chance that Mira found out about Brennan's death in Battle Brief.

Weeks as a Meal Planner/Tracker

I got my 2026 Weeks to be a work planner, but I'm done work in a couple weeks to go back to school, and I already know the Weeks works awfully as a study planner for me (I use the Kokuyo Campus Weekly Vertical layout), so I'm thinking of changing it to a meal planner and nutrition tracker.

Having the left easily divided into three makes it easy to divide up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I could easily add a strip at the bottom of each day for snacks.

The bigger issue is how to do macro tracking. I don't care about every little thing, just the big four (overall calories, fat, carbs, and protein). I can do overall calories on a by-meal basis on the left, but I'm trying to figure out how I could track the others on the right side.

I have my course list for the upcoming school year and have contact information for my instructors. Is it a good or bad idea to email them and ask about the courses for this upcoming school year?

My university does in-program bursaries for students with the top grades, and I don't come from money (even with student loans, it's a struggle), so I need every little boost I can get my hands on. Thankfully I'm pretty academically-inclined, so I feel like I have a shot at qualifying. I was top of my class in community college, and I'm transferring that two-year diploma to count towards the first two years of my degree.

I've already registered for my courses for the upcoming year, and have the emails for my instructors. Should I email them and ask them about those courses ahead of time?

I want to ask mostly about how the classes are structured and if there are any study techniques that work well for those courses. I'm also thinking of asking if there's anything they would recommend reviewing before the semester begins, or if there are any topics where students tend to struggle (so I'm not caught off-guard when it comes to those points).

Since I know I'm emailing them over the summer, I want it to be a handful of more specific questions with relatively direct answers rather than anything huge and open-ended, so I'm not taking as much of their time.

What was your biggest "oh fuck" moment on a re-read?

When doing a re-read, what was the bit of foreshadowing or hint that you missed the first time that made you go oh fuck when you caught it the second time around?

For me, it was the mention of Jack's eyes when he got to challenge Violet. I didn't think anything of the mention of red at the time, even though I know that the venin having red eyes was mentioned before, and I just didn't put two and two together until I realised he'd already turned by that point. Second go through was the Graphic Audio version, so I had to pause and sit there for a second.

It also makes Liam's panic there make complete sense. There's a good chance he saw the red thanks to his farsight signet, and he would have known exactly what that meant, hence needing to get Xaden immediately, because this is a million times worse than expected.

The only hiccup to this part is why, then, did Xaden not do anything about Barlowe? Did Liam not actually notice? Did he notice but not get the chance to tell Xaden? Did Xaden make the call to not do anything because doing something would blow the rebellion's cover again? I mean, almost no one is supposed to know about the venin, and cadets sure as shit aren't supposed to know about the existence of the daggers at all, let alone they're needed to kill venin; if he reveals that he knows, then everything comes crashing down. And then after squad battles he genuinely believed Barlowe was dead and he specifically was a non-issue at that point.

Do the village commissioner candidates in Bible Hill have platforms anywhere?

Election day is next week, with two of the five village commissioner seats being up for grabs.

Unfortunately, I can't find platforms for the candidates anywhere. Having those available is very important to me, as I would like to know what I'm actually voting for.

I'm still going to show up either way of course, but this is going to be the difference between being able to check someone off on the ballot and spoiling it by complaining about the lack of posted platforms.

Xaden's XO

Obviously there are a lot of gaps in the leadership chain of command we don't know. A lot of the time, we know either whoever hold the position or who their XO is, but not both (the only examples I can think of is Dain and Cianna, and Amber's XO who took over after she was executed).

Just a tiny little tidbit theory that has literally no bearing on anything in the story except to flesh things out better, but my guess for who Xaden picked as his XO is Soleil. I can narrow it down to a couple of options, after which point I'm just following my gut.

Command picks the Wingleaders, Section Leaders, and Squad Leaders, but they get to pick their own XOs.

With the nature of the command structure, it would have been really weird for Xaden to *not* take his XO with him in War Games, so for potential options, we're looking at third years who were in the squad he picked for Athbyne.

The third years in that squad:

  • Xaden
  • Garrick
  • Soleil
  • Masen

The rest of the squad besides Violet and Liam were Imogen, Bodhi, Ciaran, and Eya, and all four were second-years at the time (Ciaran got roasted by Solas, and Eya was taken out by one of the infantry soldiers that attacked her and Violet at Threshing).

He wouldn't have picked a second year. They don't typically get past Squad Leader; objectively, Bodhi being picked as Executive Section Leader in his second year is actually kind of nuts.

Since Garrick was a Section Leader, Xaden couldn't pick him as XO. So logically it's a 50/50 shot between Soleil and Masen. I don't have any evidence giving either of them a better chance, I'm just following my gut there.
