Proofreading itinerary for weekend Trip
Howdy! I'm planning on doing a car camp trip on the weekend with 5 other friends later this month and I wanted to run my plan for the weekend by folks who know the area better than I do- to see if any of my ideas aren't gonna work of if there's a better option I didn't find.
We're planning on one car heading out from the Bay Area ~9:00am on a Friday to get to Monterey circa noon and claim a spot at the Veteran's Memorial Park campground. Those of us in the first car will set up camp and do any last minute shopping, then I saw that they have live music at the Asilomar Conference grounds that looks to be fun while we wait for the rest of us who had to leave in the afternoon to arrive. We'll head back to camp and make dinner.
Saturday afternoon, we'll be up real early to guarantee we can get parking at Point Lobos. We'll hike around, enjoy the beauty, and if it's not to crowded, go for a swim at Gibson beach. We'll leave Point Lobos sometime between 1-3 to eat out for lunch around carmel, and try to find a spot on Carmel Beach where we can use a camping stove to cook dinner and enjoy the afternoon together on the water. (If we can't find a spot to cook, we'll eat back at the campsite. How hard will it be for us to find those camp stove spots at Carmel Beach?) If we're up to it, then we'll get drinks somewhere pleasant in Carmel- anyone have recommendations on good nightlife? We love live music.
Sunday we're going to get up a bit more leisurely, and head over to elkhorn slough to go kayaking through Monterey Bay Kayaks around the reserve, then grab a late-ish lunch at Woodward's before the people who have to work on monday head back. Sunday night the rest of us will go to Pearl Hour and enjoy some jazz music.
Monday morning, we'll cook breakfast and walk along the water at Pacific Grove. Depending on time, if y'all have any suggestions for what to do Monday morning I'd love to hear them.
Thank you so much for any advice you're willing to offer!
