Second Attempt Seitan - Steak Mode

Finally got around to trying to make Seitan, and wanted to start on making a beef substitute to my taste.

My first attempt was a chicken flavouring that Im pretty happy with, that one was a steamed recipe, which I found a bit annoying.

This is braised in the oven, real simple, Im sure plenty of room to improve. I'll also be clear, this is not even a vegetarian preparation, though I'm sure it easily could be - I used beef bouillon and regular worce, of which I know subs exist.

I used pickled beets (pureed) for the colour, and since Ive seen recipes adding balsamic vin I figured this may be a two birds stoned solution.

I will have to update tomorrow with thoughts on flavour. My impatient picking taste test seemed pretty good!

36m, 170lb - BF? 25% ?

edit; 5'9 for height!

Pretty modest strength training / calisthenics 3x a week, and 5km jog alternate days 3x per week.

Trying to trim body fat a bit, gradually improving with strength training and calisthenics, curious where I land at the moment.

W9D3 (and the album that got me there)

Thought I'd do something a little different for my graduation celebration post!

I definitely dragged the last week out, I think I wanted a "perfect week" of runs. Ultimately I've reached the goal of 30 minutes continuous running/jogging, and am now working on bringing my pace up. Currently hovering around 6:45-7:00/km pace, which I'm happy with! But enlisting in my country's military, which I've read has a reccomended pace of 6:00/km as the baseline. Nearly there! I'm not sure I completely believe the attached google-fit screenshot, but it was a pretty good!

Anyway, as to the title - the album Dream Weapon by Genghis Tron has been monumentally helpful for getting me into a flow state and sinking into the run. It's definitely always going to remind me of running and my journey along the way. I may try the 10k program next, and I'll likely use their latest album as a starting place. For the curious - be warned, this band used to be extreme / cybergrind / hardcore music. The latest two albums have been muuuuch more chill and ambient 😂

Let me know if you have any albums that helped you along your journey too!

W8D2 Midnight Mode!

Had to bail on W8D1 due to the heat, just did some walking in lieu.

Last night was determined, and had today off from work, so I went down to the lakeshore to try a run later in the evening. Ended up just walking the distance down, extra-warmup 😂

Probably my favorite run so far, the water provided some nice cool breeze, and it was much quieter due to the silly hour. I only wish Id brought swim trunks to cool off after the run was completed. Stopping in at an old favourite bar after for a quick drink was also a great capstone for the run 😛

Definitely going to look at running in the evenings more often, what a breeze.
