Comfort Upgrades-Cannondale Trail 1

I just bought a Cannondale Trail 1 (size medium, I’m 5’7”) but I find it incredibly uncomfortable on both my lower back and hands. Just wondering what common upgrades to look into to make it more more comfortable, or tips for tweaking the components of the bike, or how I’m using it. Are my complaints telltale signs that I need to change up specific things?

I’ve read that you can flip the stem so it’s facing you.. is that something that would help, and is it common? I also might want a new curved handlebar?

For background, I’ve been riding a Trek hybrid bike for the past few years (size small, maybe technically smaller than would be correct for my height, but I’ve been very comfortable on it), but it’s just not great for riding on rougher trails/light mountain biking, so I decided to get a more appropriate bike to continue exploring more rough terrain.
