Comfort Upgrades-Cannondale Trail 1

I just bought a Cannondale Trail 1 (size medium, I’m 5’7”) but I find it incredibly uncomfortable on both my lower back and hands. Just wondering what common upgrades to look into to make it more more comfortable, or tips for tweaking the components of the bike, or how I’m using it. Are my complaints telltale signs that I need to change up specific things?

I’ve read that you can flip the stem so it’s facing you.. is that something that would help, and is it common? I also might want a new curved handlebar?

For background, I’ve been riding a Trek hybrid bike for the past few years (size small, maybe technically smaller than would be correct for my height, but I’ve been very comfortable on it), but it’s just not great for riding on rougher trails/light mountain biking, so I decided to get a more appropriate bike to continue exploring more rough terrain.

Orbea made millions a year in Türkiye through one exclusive distributor, left 80+ paying customers with no bikes or refunds, and is now threatening the ones who speak out

Update: I know that legally my problem is with Mayavelo and I'm going after them. That's not really my point though.

Here's what actually bothers me. Orbea Spain got rid of Mayavelo due to wrongdoings but said nothing publicly. No warning, no notice that Mayavelo isn't their distributor anymore. Korlas, the new distributor, hasn't announced it either. Months later, still silence. Mayavelo was in the game for more than 10 years. They have connections and power.

Mayavelo still has an open shop in Istanbul with the Orbea sign on it. Right now, today, someone who isn't lucky enough to be in a cycling group could walk in, see the branding, talk to the guy and hand over their money for an Orbea that will never come. The exact thing that happened to 80+ of us is still able to happen to the next person, because nobody with the power to stop it has said a word.

If a brand makes millions off a market and knows its official dealer since 10 years is robbing people under its logo, does it have any responsibility to just... warn people? Put out one statement? Get the sign taken down? A routine distributor change, sure, nobody announces that. But this wasn't routine. Orbea's own reason for the split was misconduct against customers.

Staying quiet while the trap stays open, that's the part I don't think is okay.

---

This is a story about Orbea Spain completely ignoring it’s customers in Türkiye, threatening them and mishandling the transition between its old exclusive distributor in Türkiye, Mayavelo, and its new distributor, Korlas, then leaving customers to pay the price.

More than 80 people in Türkiye appear to have been affected. I am one of them.

I ordered my bike from Mayavelo, Orbea’s long-time exclusive distributor in Türkiye. At the time, this was the official way to buy an Orbea bike in the country. I paid in full. The delivery date passed. No bike. No refund. No clear answer from Orbea Spain, Mayavelo or Korlas.

Orbea Spain terminated Mayavelo and appointed Korlas as the new distributor.

But the transition was handled terribly.

Customers were never informed by Orbea Spain, Mayavelo, or Korlas. Mayavelo still has Orbea branding on its shop. The new distributor never announced that they are the official distributor of Orbea and they now expect affected customers to pay again and place new orders. Some people have already paid twice because they needed bikes for training and competitions.

That is the key issue.

Orbea Spain chose Mayavelo.
Orbea Spain sold in Türkiye through Mayavelo for years.
Orbea Spain generated more than €2 million worth of annual sales in Türkiye through this distribution network.
Orbea Spain replaced Mayavelo with Korlas.
Orbea Spain failed to communicate that transition clearly to the market. (Still no official communication)
Orbea Spain allowed customers to be caught between the old distributor and the new one.

Customers did not choose Orbea’s distribution structure. Customers did not manage the distributor relationship. Customers did not control the handover from Mayavelo to Korlas. Customers simply bought Orbea bikes through the official channel available to them.

Orbea’s position is that it never sold directly to Turkish consumers, never received our payments, and delivered every bike Mayavelo actually paid for. From a narrow legal perspective, I understand the argument: “you paid the shop, not us.”

But that does not solve the real issue.

A major brand cannot benefit from years of sales in a market, generate millions through an exclusive distributor, then disappear behind legal fine print when that same distributor collapses during a messy, badly communicated handover.

Even worse, Orbea says it is “making every effort” and has “already satisfied other consumers in the same situation” in my area. So which is it? If Orbea has no responsibility, why are some customers being helped while others are ignored?

That does not look like “we cannot help.” It looks like “we will help whoever we choose.”

Customers have also been posting about this on LinkedIn and other platforms. Many of us have been blocked by Orbea. Some of us have received lawyer-flavored threats, with Orbea “reserving its legal rights” if we share “false or inaccurate information” that damages the brand. We don’t want to damage the brand, we just want the bike we paid for. That’s it.

Translation: stop posting or we may sue.

This is unacceptable.

Whatever the legal fine print says, Orbea Spain created and controlled the distribution setup in Türkiye. It benefited from that setup for years. The failed transition between Mayavelo and Korlas is Orbea Spain’s responsibility to fix, not something customers should be forced to absorb.

TL;DR: Orbea’s exclusive Türkiye distributor, Mayavelo, took full payments from customers and never delivered the bikes. Orbea Spain reportedly generated more than €2 million in annual sales in Türkiye through this distribution network, then replaced Mayavelo with Korlas without properly managing or communicating the transition. Now customers are stuck between the old distributor, the new distributor, and Orbea Spain’s “not our problem” position. This is not the customer’s problem. Orbea Spain needs to fix the mess created by its own distribution network.

I'm 17, and I got tired of digging my phone out of my jersey mid-ride sooo I built a mount instead

Hello, my name is William. I'm 17 years old, and I've started a new project: creating a mount that turns your smartwatch into a bike computer.

First, I want to explain what led to this project. I've been road biking for around 3 years now, and I've always used a smartwatch to track my workouts and my phone to tell me (with the speaker on max volume) which directions to take. However, most of the time I can't hear what my phone tells me to do, and it forces me to take it out of my jersey to take a quick look. Gotta say, my one-hand-on-the-handlebar skills are getting better every day lol... sooo that was my first problem: seeing where I was going. And I wasn't about to buy a phone mount to put it on my handlebar. That is wayyy too bulky, and it would only last like 1–2 hours with my crappy battery life of my iphone XR ):. That was problem one.

Problem two started showing up once I began training more seriously: how could I make sure I was maintaining a good speed or a good wattage every now and then? I had to check my watch on my wrist, which is a skill on its own, but it started getting a little dangerous. (The cheap cyclometer can't connect to my TrainingPeaks so that's a no and I'm a big stats guy.

The solution was clearly buying a bike computer. But as a triathlete, I had many other things to buy, like a LOT of things and I wasn't able to justify that purchase. So I did what anyone else with CAD knowledge would do: I hopped on Fusion 360.

I managed to model a mount for the Coros Pace 3. After about 6 months of working on the project on and off, I'm glad to say I'm finally able to showcase what I've built.

So here's everything I used:
- 2x M5 35mm screws
- 2x 10mm spacers (for my bike)
- 1 3D-printed mount

That's it!

Installing it...

Jeez, that was the hardest part. Believe it or not, making the mount was easy. It was figuring out the best way to attach it to my handlebar, and in the future, making it able to attach to any handlebar.

After that, finding the average screw size was even harder. For now, there is only one size setting for the distance from the mount to the handlebar stem.

Then came another problem: if the model is in plastic, how do you make sure they aren't crushed by the torque of the screws? For now, I don't have an injection molding machine and can't overmold on top of an aluminum piece.

You can even choose if you want to keep your watch bands or remove them — 2 in 1!

I'm currently designing one for Apple Watch and one for Garmin ;)

If you guys want to know more, I think I could create a thread or a page or something. I'm new to reddit, so ill keep you guys updated!

New bike!

I just bought this Ridley Grifn Gravel (SRAM Rival eTap AXS 2x12) for €2300,-. Do you think it is a good deal?

In addition to this, the tyres are narrow and have relatively little tread. Does anyone have advice on what type of tyres to choose if I would like to change them? The bike will mainly be used for forest and gravel paths in the Netherlands.

Are adult trikes / electric trikes actually practical for daily riding?

So I’m in my late 50s and my balance has gotten kinda sketchy after a minor crash last fall. I was watching an older guy cruise past my bus stop on a big cargo-looking trike the other day and it low-key planted a seed in my brain.

I’ve always ridden regular bikes, nothing fancy, but lately I’m nervous in traffic and on slow climbs. Started googling “adult tricycle" stuff at like 1am and fell into a mix of folding trikes, fat-tire setups, and even the odd electric trike option. Reviews all sound super positive, but of course they do, it’s marketing.

Has anyone here actually used a trike as their main ride? How sketchy do they feel in turns, especially with a higher seat? Are electric ones worth it for hills or just extra weight and cost? I’m mostly thinking grocery runs, bike path cruising, maybe 10-15 mile days max.

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’d love real-world pros/cons, stuff you wish you knew before buying, and any specific models or features to look for or avoid.

Should I sell or keep the bike?

I have a Ducati monster 796, I love the bike, it has some history, not very good owners, but I always want a sport bike like a Kawasaki 600 cc or an R6, the bike isn’t very popular for selling, so it’s kinda hard to sell for a good price, normally people look to mt07 and those kind of bikes, I don’t know if I must just sell bike Lower price and then get the Kawasaki or just keep like a collection, what should I do?

Gears occasionally stop turning back tire, need advise

I’m unable to attach a video so I’ll try to post it in the comments.

Recently the gears on my back tire start spinning without actually spinning the back tire, so the pedal has no resistance and I almost fell of my bike a few times. This only happens for a couple seconds unpredictably and I’m not sure where to even begin to fix it.

First gravel bike? (Belgium leasing)

I got the oppurtunity to lease a bike trough work. My mountainbike feels to slow and i feel like i would ride a gravel bike often and then sell my moutainbike.

Please note that the leasing project would be 3y contract, on my brutto end of year/13th month bonus so lets say i buy it after the 3y it would approx cost me half the new price, but i would feel it heavy in my wallet since its on my brutto end of year premie. After wich netto i would still keep approximate 2/3 netto.

Lets say im not sure if ill keep graveling or cycling and i would sell it after 3y then some specs would be interesting for resell (electric shifters, carbon, high brands). Note im not in it to cash out afther the contract but rather to stay sportive. For all i know ill be happy with it and just keep it

Now i did went to some shops and learned that if I want carbon and electric shifters from Trek, Giant, Canyon, Cube, Scott, Ridley,…) pricing starts at €4000 excluding helmet, pedals and lock.

If i do include 80€ slot, 80€ halfhalf clipclip/normal pedals and 80€ helmet it would also be “financially better” since its also on my brutto.

I have some brands and bikes on my list wich are interesting, but its always color or framesize or out of stock or idk wich makes the process super complicated.

Ill attach my list of bikes wich caught my eye in here and i would love some experts / enthusiasts/ kind people their feedback regarding this.

I know there are 1500€ gravel bikes out there as wel but since its leasing i hear from everybody best to aim higher.

My friend swears by Canyon but it would have to be with special dealerships who do maintance since its only online sale. I heard stories about someone waiting months for repair items…. Also for example Cube has long delivery times…

Im 169cm fyi and also dont want spend another amount of buckeroos on longer or shorter pins, new fancy rims, tubeless tires,… since ill also need to invest further in more riding gear such as chlothing and other accesoires.

What would you recommend in my opinion?

Specialized Roll for very heavy rider?

I’m getting my first bike, after having lost enough weight to begin riding. I’m 5’6, 235, and I’m wondering what bikes others like for a very heavy rider?

I was looking at the Specialized Roll low entry, but it’s harder to get here. No one seems to have it.

Attention in bike shorts

It is super hot here in Germany so I got on my bike in short jeans shorts and a baggy shirt. Is this an inappropriate Outfit for riding a bike??

I got so many icky stares from men, when I drove above a bridge a man that was headed towards me saw me and took out his penis!! I just drove past him and he went into the bushes.

Do you experience stuff like that as well as a woman?

I don't want to wear long pants on my bike in summer because of the heat and to get a tan but now I am reconsidering. Just wanted to enjoy the weather and get some movement :(

Should I sell my current bike to get two separate bikes?

I’m currently in a situation where having one really nice bike in one type of cycling is starting to slow me down. For context, I have a Custom 2023 Scott Spark RC that I could easily sell for 6k or maybe more. It’s a great bike, but that’s the problem, if I want to ride road I’m either stuck riding that or I borrow someone else’s gravel bike. So, I need help deciding if I sell it and buy a mountain bike with one half and a road bike with the other or just save up for a road and keep my current bike. The bikes I’m looking at are a Sava Falcon SLR7 and a YT Izzo either core 1 or 2. Unfortunately I’d either have to wait until the YT’s are available in the US again or have a third party ship it to me. So what should I do?

Buying a new bike... advice?

I've done a few sprint / olympic triathlons this year and have signed up for a 70.3 next year. Post that, I want to do a full ironman. I bought a £340 second hand road bike from a local bike shop and it's pretty good but I'm looking for an upgrade. Happy to spend around £3-5k and want to buy new. I've been looking at the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2 although I've heard there's a stigma around them?? Does anyone have any advice or bike recommendations? I'm female, 25.
