It's always something with these freaking plumbots, man...

So apparently using MasterController's reset on plumbots turns them into these Temu Bicentennial Man looking monstrosities. Or maybe it's just my cursed save? I discovered this the other day with the second plumbot, actually, and forgot when I did a town reset just now. It's nice to see Blip's genetic info, I guess?

I don't really need a solution. I'm just going to go back to the save I did right before this and add the plumbots to a random household which I'll except from the town reset. But is this like... a Thing? Googling just brings up people trying to make their plumbots look more human. I'd very much like less of this.

What's an acceptable amount of time a save should take to load?

I'm not necessarily asking about your average load times, but rather at what point do you start looking for ways to seriously cut down on data/save bloat? I've seen players talk about waiting 40 minutes to load into a save. That sounds unbearable to me.

My main family I've been playing for the past 8 months had load times that climbed to 18-25 minutes at one point, and I just thought that was a consequence of long term gameplay that couldn't be avoided. Each time it would get stuck at the same point for about 15 minutes, which makes me wonder if there was some specific bloat/data corruption it was getting caught up in. Regul Save Cleaner didn't change this, so I don't think it was anything I could have cleaned out myself. Then I used NRaas Porter to move my entire population to a new copy of the neighborhood because I was struggling with Error 12. My load times went down to 4-6 minutes, and have stayed that way for the past three months. (Just tested and got 3 minutes, maybe my sense of time is skewed 😅)

My PC is relatively new and has pretty good specs, which certainly helps. I also use a lot of default replacements and mods, which I know can make it take longer. I started using S3SS and DXVK recently, which are great for gameplay, but I'm not sure they have an impact on loading times.

So, how do y'all feel about how long it should take to load a save? What do you do to prevent it from getting out of control, and what steps do you take once it's reached an unacceptable level?

Send me your favorite screenshots of stretched sims. I'll start:

My game deleted the names and descriptions of all 30 of my town's community lots and set them to No Visitors Allowed, please cheer me up with your little eldritch horrors

Edit: Just figured out it was caused by Shimrod's Townies out on the Town mod... So yeah, maybe be careful downloading that one 🥲

Has teaching teens to drive ever worked correctly for anyone?

I ask because the interaction seems buggy as all hell... I always end up having to soft reset one or both sims for whatever reason. Sometimes the parent drives off without the teen. Often they get separated mid-lesson. I may find one of them traveling on foot while the other remains in the vehicle. My latest attempt went like this:

Teen: Hey Dad, can you teach me how to drive today?
Dad: Sure thing, kid.
Teen: Sweet! *immediately hops on her invisible inventory broom and rides off*

And I mean... the driving skill bar was going up, so I let it continue. Dad just stood there for a couple of hours and chuckled to himself every once in a while.

Anyway, I guess I can just send the teens to the rabbithole for lessons, but I like the idea of this interaction and would love if it worked. Anyone have any tips?

Plumbot Pregnancy Update 2 - Why Plumbot Kids Suck

Hello again! Wish I had a more fun update this time. Hopefully the excessive number of toddler pictures make up for it. The three occult kids have the Illusive Man eye contacts by GnatGoSplat because it looks good with their eye glow. I also attached a couple of pictures where they are older, but the toddlers are just more fun.

Unfortunately my desire to be whimsical and find out everything organically through gameplay was superseded by my need to figure out how everything works as soon as possible. I'll give a quick(ish) rundown of my findings.

I aged all four kids up to toddlers, then children, then teenagers without removing any traits, and had no crashes. The toddlers were completely normal. They could learn to walk, to talk, and could be potty trained. The werewolf pups gleefully tore up half of the house.

The problems start when they become children. The hidden robot trait will prevent them from being able to sleep in any normal beds. I could only get them to sleep in dream pods and sleeping bags. There are probably some other alternative beds that could work, too. They aren't able to take bubble baths. They are still able to shower, use the bathroom, and eat, but they will not do so autonomously. I realized this when a couple of them started having accidents around the same time...

My kids were born with the Friendly Functions and Capacity to Love chips, so they can make friends at all ages and flirt as teenagers. (They're blocked from doing so as teens, but it looks like they are technically able to romance their father... If anyone has any tips on manipulating StoryProgression to make sure that doesn't happen, that would be great.) Because they weren't born with Sinister Circuits, they aren't able to do any mean socials. They can't clean anything. They can't play instruments.

The cause and solution to nearly all of these problems lay in the ITUN files. For most I either had to remove an exclusion of the robot trait or a requirement for certain trait chips. Doing this does mean that regular plumbots are able to do these things, as well, in spite of whatever trait chips they have equipped. So the real question is, does all of that extra tweaking to make plumbot children function normally come with any extra fun in game?

No, it doesn't. The children are unable to do any of the plumbot-specific actions, and no other sims are able to use plumbot-specific socials on them. If anyone has any good guides to understanding the SocialData XMLs, I haven't been able to find any.

I tried to retune the "Adjust Trait Chips" on self action to see if I could get them to "fix" themselves, but it appears to be hard coded to plumbots. Trying to add the plumbot occult status to them with MasterController didn't stick, so there wasn't any way to get rid of the offending trait chips except to clean out all of their traits using MasterController.

If anyone wants any instructions on how to get these kids to function, I'm happy to help out, but ultimately I would recommend clearing out their traits and adding back the ones you want.

As a side note, does anyone have any idea what Virginia's invisible trait shown in the last picture could be? She passed it down to all of the kids. When analyzing the kids I thought it must have been their hidden robot trait, but then I discovered that the only trait Blip has on this menu is the Future Sim trait...?

Plumbot Pregnancy Update 1 - RIP me I guess

Well, we've got a pretty decent sample size to work with...

Truly, this is my fault. I used MasterController to give all of the female werewolves in my town Fertility Treatment (yes, three of them are also werewolves!) to make things interesting. The unplanned pregnancy was, well, to be expected. Twins wouldn't have been surprising. But whyyy is this the first time I've ever gotten quadruplets? I don't even know if I want to go back to Moonlight Falls now. My house already has 11 sims in it.

It looks like the babies inherited some physical traits from Blip, as well as all of his trait chips. There were so many traits, in fact, that they couldn't even be listed on the status pop-up, and most of them weren't even visible when I used MasterController's Advanced->Traits->Change. So I went into Debug Enabler and used Test Menu Interactions to get a full log sent to my game folder.

The plethora of hidden traits are probably what will lead to weird errors and crashing on age-up. The good news is, it looks like I can erase them all using Advanced->Traits->Clean (see the last pic for results). After that, I can add back the traits I want. I'll probably do this for two of the babies, age them up first, and then age up the other two. Maybe do some variations, if possible, to see what traits exactly are breaking the game on age-up.

I think that's enough for today, though. It was fun, but a lot! Fingers crossed, I think I'm gonna be able to keep them... Unless it gets to be too much, and I just scrap the whole thing as an alternate timeline lol

Plumbot got my sim pregnant - advice needed

So I have NRaas Woohooer installed, and have it set so all regular woohoos are replaced with risky. My sim woohooed with a plumbot. Next thing I know, she's got nausea from "unknown causes," and yep... plumbot's the father.

I'm assuming this is a feature from NRaas Woohooer, since without mods I think plumbots can only "get frisky." Googling didn't bring up much, and there's nothing about it I can find on Woohooer's page using the Wayback Machine.

Should I keep this baby? It seems like a fun idea, but will it cause any problems in my game? I'm guessing that physically it will be a genetic clone of the mother, but will it have traits based on the father's chips? I'm also in Oasis Landing right now, first time really playing it. Will it be born with the future sim hidden trait, and if so, should I remove that before I try to return home?

Anyone know why my couch is glowing?

I downloaded a house off of Mod the Sims and noticed this strange green light emanating from the loveseat outside. I plopped the lot into a fresh save to test, and it was happening there too. It looks kind of like the rings the game makes to simulate rainfall on water, but why would they be coming from a couch?

Edit: It's not a prank, guys. I've got 5 kids, those giant red lights are everywhere lol
