Acting "sick" for attention as a kid
I've been reflecting a lot on how dysfunctional my childhood was lately. For the most part my father ignored me growing up (still does), but I have vivid memories of him showering me with attention whenever I was sick. I do think I learned to exaggerate my symptoms and report "feeling sick" more often because it was one of the few times I felt seen and cared for by him.
I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar experience?
