Location Debacle
We’re trying to decide where to host our baby shower and cannot make a decision. Looking for some input and others’ experiences/advice. We’re located in KY/TN area but our families are spread out. My partners family is all in TX, whereas my immediate family is in PA, with extended family that may attend in MN and SC. Originally, we were thinking of hosting it on the East Coast in a major US city since some of my family lives there (and would host it), driveable for the rest of my immediate family, and easy/cheaper to fly to for my partners family and my extended family (if they’re up for attending). It’s about a 10-12 hour drive for us though. We also recently moved and have A LOT to get done at our new place and would also LOVE to host people here (we have plenty of space) so they can also see and experience our new place and new town. But that means everyone would have to travel and the numbers would likely be lower on who would/could attend (his side is fine with traveling regardless but many of my family members have limited funds or time off). I think my friends would be more likely to attend if we host it at our place. My husband has a few close friends and they’d have to drive either way (if they can get the time off, 2.5 hours to East Coast, 4 hours to us).
We haven’t set a date yet and there’s also limited time now for people to plan ahead for travel. Another challenge! My SIL and her family are planning to visit us in mid-July anyways so I thought we could potentially do it then at our place, but that’s also very soon for people to figure out travel. I’m a FTM due in mid-Sept, so not sure how doable a 10-12 hour roadtrip will be by early August (when my East Coast family member is thinking of hosting it if we have it there).
Idk what to do!!! My husband is also torn. Anyone have any advice or thoughts on this??
