Is it a good idea to do Kalsubai Trek right after a 10-day Vipassana course at Dhamma Giri?

Hi everyone,

I’m going to Dhamma Giri, Igatpuri for a 10-day Vipassana course. After completing the course, I’m planning to do the Kalsubai Trek, since it’s relatively close to Igatpuri.

Do you think it’s a good idea to go trekking immediately after completing a 10-day Vipassana course? I’m wondering whether I might feel physically or mentally tired after the course, and whether it would be better to rest for a day before trekking.

For those who have done Vipassana at Dhamma Giri or Kalsubai Trek, I’d really appreciate your advice and experience.

Thanks!

Dhamma Pala vs Dhamma Thali for my first 10-day Vipassana course?

Hi everyone,

I recently received confirmation from both Dhamma Pala and Dhamma Thali for a 10-day Vipassana course, and I need to choose one.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Dhamma Pala: I have already booked my train tickets, so the travel will be easier and less expensive. I've also heard it tends to be less crowded, which sounds appealing.
  • Dhamma Thali: I'm attracted to it because it's closer to the hills, and I feel the natural surroundings might make the experience more peaceful and memorable.

Since this will be my first 10-day course, I'm wondering which center would provide the better overall experience.

For those who have been to either (or both):

  • Which center would you recommend for a first-time meditator?
  • Does the scenery or location make any noticeable difference during the course?
  • Is there any difference in accommodation, facilities, management, or overall atmosphere?
  • If you had to choose between the two, which would you pick and why?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!
