My experience using a $600 ncl cruise voucher
To begin with thank you all for the info I have gleamed from this reddit, it made my life simpler and enabled me to approach this with confidence, I am just posting this for any other newbies who are wondering on using the $ ammount rather than a comp cruise. If i missed a trick please do let me know so that I can improve!
After receiving the voucher, I had to setup Viber (I am based in the UK and would rather not have to pay for phoning a USA 877 number!)
I rang the specified number on Sunday, and somehow got put through to normal sales!!!!! Thankfully after a few minutes when the saleperson had checked with a colleague I was transferred through to the correct department.
This person took my voucher redemption code, and lattitudes number and the details of what I was after date and ship, solo inside, free at sea, no insurance, no prepaid gratitudes (I do usually pay them though closer to the cruise unless I decide I want FAS +) and of course a $500 CruiseFirst voucher I had on my account.
I was also asked which cabin number I wanted. Which was a nice touch. The ammount came to what i expected from my mock booking (After the $600 and the CruiseFirst - $3.50)
[So I can confirm that there are no casino admin fees on using a monitary discount unlike a comp cruise]
I was put in hold while he generated the booking and then came back and gave me my reservation number. He also reminded me (as I had read here) that it can take a couple of days for the $600 to come off the reservation
It was simple and easy.
