Follower footwork in Dile Que No: small step back or forward on 1?

Hi, I am a beginner follow and currently going to two different dance schools for Cuban salsa. Both schools teach Dile Que No differently, which makes it hard for me to follow sometimes.

One school taught me that on count 1, the follow does a slight backward prep movement with the right foot. The other school says to step forward with the right foot on 1, no backward prep.

Can someone explain which version is considered better, or if there is even a “correct” way?

Hi! I have been dancing Cuban Salsa for 6 months. Our instructors are great dancers but don't have a lot of experience teaching. Our dance school is quite new, the instructors are good friends with the owner, and 6 months ago we started as their first class.

We still haven't learned how to use shoulders and arm movement in our basic step. I watched a bunch of tutorials on YouTube and tried copying those videos but I really much rather learn this in class. I am a beginner so I don't know if this is already concidered too advanced or if it's something that doesn't need to be taught, but after 6 months I wish we could have had at least one class session on this.

Is it okay for me to go up to my instructors and tell them something like "I noticed that I don't know how to move my arms and shoulders during the basic step. Is this something we could learn in class?"

Hi everyone I have been attending Sensual Bachata classes once a week (my studio doesn't offer more classes) for about 4-5 months.

The lead is from a different dance school. The Bachata scene in my area is very young. We don't have a lot of experienced bachata dancers because most of the dance teachers prefer to teach cuban salsa. But we're slowly growing and trying our best to get better.

Be completely honest with your critique.

I am hypermobile and struggle with arm and wrist placement.
