Need Advice Regarding Subpoena for Patient I Did Not Handle Personally

Good day doctors, I would like to seek advice regarding a subpoena I recently received to testify about a medical abstract I prepared.

The subpoena was sent in relation to a patient’s case. However, I never personally handled or managed the patient. During my ward duty back in 2024, I only prepared the medical abstract upon request for financial assistance purposes, and it was not intended for medicolegal use.

I honestly do not remember the patient anymore and was not involved in the patient’s admission, management, or follow-up care.

I am also scheduled to migrate to Australia by mid-June, while the hearing is set on June 25.

May I ask:

  1. Am I still required to personally appear in court?
  2. Is it possible for the subpoena to be redirected to the attending/admitting physician instead?
  3. Would informing the court ahead of time about my migration be enough?
  4. What would be the best step to take in this situation?

Thank you very much.
