Why do Iberia/level believe it is normal to fly on a broken seat (i.e. I had to hold the completely loose headrest for 13h, no compensation)?
I bought 5 tickets from Iberia to fly Barcelona-Lima and return through Level. Iberia pricing was higher than level, but I was promised a "better" service: seat selection, full meals, checked and cabin bags included, and Iberia's name.
The flight there was ok, even if space was tight. On the flight back (ib2610 on Aug 12), I guess I got what I deserved for flying "low cost".
I unfortunately got the last few available seats for seat selection (I couldn't choose until 24h before flying), and two of our seats, 27A and 27C, in the middle on the plane, were just next to the toilets...ok, that's fine. Except that they did not recline (not mentioned on seat selection). Ok, not that fine, but at least we are not too tall. Then we try to move our head rests, and find they are both broken. 27a is attached to the seat but cannot be moved up or down... 27c comes loose, I find the headrest in my hands. We tell the flight attendants, and one guy from maintenance comes in to fix them. 27A can't be fixed, while 27C is "fixed" for the next five minutes, until I touch it again. The plane takes off with me holding the headrest (isn't this a risk as a loose, hard object?) and I try to fix it several other times during the flight, lasting a few minutes each. Flight attendants state there are no empty seats to move me to, and to make a complaint for reimbursement once we land. Of course, once we land, I contact iberia, and they tell me to contact Level, and Level replies that they do not offer any compensation for broken seats. Surprise!! That's my karma for not making a big fuss during the flight.
On top of that, of the 5 toilets for the main cabin, one had no working water for the sink and another one, the toilet right behind us, was broken. In addition to being unusable it was continuously making a crackling noise, for the whole 13h flight.
Am I right to believe I should get compensation? What channel should I use?
