Honest advice from current Plaksha students? (2027 applicant)
TL;DR
I’m a 2027 applicant trying to decide if Plaksha is worth the investment for someone from a middle-class family. Looking for honest opinions from current students/alumni—not the marketing version. Also curious about scholarships, startup culture, clubs, and whether I should prioritize Plaksha over my backup (CIC + IIT Madras BS).
Hey everyone,
I’m planning to apply to Plaksha for the 2027 intake and would really appreciate hearing from current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year students (or alumni).
I’m looking for honest experiences, not the usual marketing narrative. Every college has pros and cons, and I’d rather know the reality before making such a big financial and career decision.
A little about me:
Class 12: 78.92%.
My academic journey has been a bit unconventional, but I’m now fully committed to engineering.
Interested in AI, software engineering, startups, and entrepreneurship.
Preparing for the SAT (target: 1550+).
Working on coding projects and trying to build a strong application.
My biggest concern is cost.
I’m from a middle-class family, and our realistic budget is around ₹35 lakh in total (about ₹25 lakh for tuition and ₹10 lakh for living expenses). Anything beyond that would be very difficult.
I’d love your thoughts on a few things:
Is Plaksha genuinely worth the investment?
If you could go back, would you choose it again?
What’s the teaching quality actually like? Someone said the professors don’t teach deep tech topics that well
How intense is the workload?
What’s the student culture like?
Since I eventually want to build a startup:
Is the entrepreneurship ecosystem genuinely active, or is it mostly highlighted during admissions?
Are there good incubators, mentors, hackathons, networking opportunities, and founder communities?
I’m also curious about campus life:
How are the clubs and extracurriculars?
I’m not expecting a perfect college experience, but is it at least a fun, well-rounded place where you can grow outside academics?
Scholarships:
With a 1550+ SAT (hopefully), coding projects, and a decent overall profile—but 78.92% in Class 12—do you think I have a realistic chance of getting a significant scholarship or financial aid? If you received one, I’d love to know what your profile was like.
My backup plan is Cluster Innovation Centre (DU) + IIT Madras BS, so I’m also trying to figure out how much importance I should give to Plaksha versus focusing on my backup.
I’m not expecting ₹60 LPA placements or anything unrealistic. I just want a place with strong learning, good peers, startup exposure, decent opportunities, and an overall experience that justifies the investment.
Thanks in advance! I’d really appreciate any honest advice.
