Bioluminescent Tours

I’m going to CR in ONE WEEK (ahh so excited!) and my daughter is dying to do a bioluminescent tour. I’ve found a few in Paquera.
I have two options for starting points. I’d like to come from my first location in Esterillos but will also be in Mirador …
How do I get to Paquera without driving around the peninsula? Is the Puntarenas ferry the only way?
Can I hire a water taxi?
Seems like the ferry is a lot of waiting for cars to load and unload. Is there a faster option or do I want my rental car when we get off?
Also if I do a bioluminescent tour they end around 8pm . Will a ferry run back that late? Likely need a 9 or 10 pm return?
