good haircuts affordable?

i’m a man w long hair and i don’t want to loose a bunch of length but i need a trim. don’t trust a barber shop to do it, i would prefer a salon, but the ones ive looked at in the area are not easy on the wallet. i don’t need anything ridiculously cheap i know you get what you pay for but some of these are like 75 dollars for 1/2 inch trim. anyone got recommendations?

What strings do I need for this guitar?

This is the guitar my mom got me in like 6th grade, and I’m 20 now and I’ve never restrung it because for a while I didn’t know you had to (I’m self taught) and then I was only playing casually so I didn’t care, but it’s LONG past time to restring this. When I tried to google it, it told me I need nylon strings, but it’s currently strung with metal ones, so now I’m confused. I don’t need super nice strings or anything but I do want to make sure I get the right ones to not damage it and make an okay sound. I mostly play folk music so that is part of it too.
EDIT: it won’t let me add new pictures of the whole thing, but it’s an eleca eag 36n. i have learned it may be ruined, but if anyone has some idea of how i can get a better one ballin on a budget that’d be awesome. it was never a super fancy one, like i said i got it in 6th grade just to learn how to play.

cool finds tide pooling at low tide north shore ma! all photos taken on my iphone

this was so cool! i don’t usually see most of these guys, i think it’s a combination of low tide being mid day, the changing of seasons where it’s not too hot not too cold, and the length of time i was out there. i’ve never seen jellyfish in this area before, especially not so near shore! super cool day for me:)
(to the best of my ability each is: rock gunnel, star tunicate x2 photo, egret, sea squirt of some variety, shrimp, moon jelly x3, all in rocky intertidal surrounded by fucus, ascophylum, and pylaiella)

where to find jobs US not red states?

I read through the rules and I believe this is acceptable but please let me know if a different sub would be better.

I graduate with my B.S in biology, marine biology concentration, in spring 2027. I have no ties to a particular area, so anywhere is really fine, but I’d MUCH prefer it not be a super intensely cold place, regular winter is fine but not like Maine or Alaska if you feel me. I also cannot live in a red state due to my identity. Which feels like it has essentially wiped out all my options, I really didn’t feel like I was being THAT picky but indeed seems to say otherwise.

I have been trying to find an idea of post grad jobs as I could technically start applying as soon as this fall, and I’m coming up absolutely hopeless.

I literally just need a job that will pay me a livable wage, I don’t have a parents house to stay at while I save money kind of situation, so this job will need to support me. I don’t need to make crazy money, literally 45k or a high hourly rate is fine I just need to be able to afford a crappy apartment and I haven’t found a single job that will give me both that and I will be qualified for post grad.

I’ve looked in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia (iffy territory but I would) Californian Oregon and Hawaii, and a bit in RI and MA but the cold doesn’t charm me, I live in MA now and want to leave but if I had to to survive it could be okay.

Let me know if I’m missing something in the job search, or I’m somehow being unrealistic. I’m fine with anything, research, field work, lab work, government jobs, whatever. hell I would even apply to a paid masters or phd if it was fully funded. All I ask is you please be kind if I’m being dumb somehow, I’ve had a really rough time and don’t want to compromise on certain things because my life has been so stressful I just don’t know how much more I could take.

should i even try w phd?

hi! im a 3rd year undergraduate biology student (abt to be 4th) and my grades are lukewarm, i will likely finish with a 3.0. im not delusional i know this isn’t stand out material, but i was diagnosed with bipolar and kicked out of my parents house all in the same year in my second year of school, and then struggled with housing insecurity and mental hospital visits before stabilizing this year.
my grades from that horrible year are dragging me down and i missed out on a lot of research and internship opportunities. of which i have yet to make up for.
i want to do a phd program and i was wondering if its even worth it to try to do bachelors to phd once i graduate. i’m adding as many labs and hands on research related courses as i can and still trying to find some kind of internship or something, but its pretty bad. the thing is i can’t afford a masters, my only hope is a phd program that pays however terrible. but i also feel ridiculous for even considering that i might deserve that kind of competitive opportunity.
i want a graduate degree really bad not just for jobs but because i really love biology specifically my concentration in marine biology, but also anything conservation related, and i really want to research. i just cant see a way to do a masters rn, and i want to go for a phd eventually anyway, so i was wondering if its worth a shot or if they will literally laugh me out of admissions wherever i apply.
please be kind, i’ve been working really hard and have little to show for it but i want to keep working hard, be honest but kind.

found this guy in the rocky intertidal, under larger rocks. north shore of MA, about 3/4 of the way to low tide so not all the way out but pretty decently low. i assume some type of flat worm, though worms are far from my focus (mostly algae) so i could be wrong. wanna know genus and species if at all possible. and i found 2 of these guys for the first time today, i spend a decent amount of time in rocky intertidal zones and this is a first for me.

won’t let me post a video, but he spat out some really long tube looking thing and sifted it through the sand.
