I built an offline, privacy-first expense tracker. Thanks to Reddit's feedback, it just hit 2,000 users & 4.7★ across 40+ countries. Here’s what I improved.

Hey everyone 👋

A while back, I started building an expense tracker because I hated the idea of uploading my personal finances to some random server just to log daily spending.

I shared the early version here, and the feedback from Reddit genuinely shaped the app into what it is today. Since that first post, Flux has hit 2,000+ users across 40+ countries, a 4.7-star rating, and 50+ paying subscribers.

Every single update has been driven by real feedback from you guys.

The core problem: Almost every budgeting app forces you to create an account, syncs your bank data online, or sells analytics. Flux does the opposite: it gives you modern tracking features while keeping everything strictly on your phone.

How it works & why it’s different:

  • 100% offline & private: No accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking/analytics.
  • On-device OCR: Scan receipts locally without uploading photos anywhere.
  • Local AI insights: Summaries and analysis run directly on your hardware.
  • Lock Screen widget: For logging expenses in 2 seconds.
  • Fast, lightweight, and clutter-free.

What’s new since the last update:

  • Recurring transactions: Rebuilt from scratch with new 2-week and 4-week interval options.
  • Lifetime purchase: By popular request, you don't have to subscribe if you don't want to.
  • Locale formatting: Natural number formatting (commas vs. dots) based on your region.
  • 25+ new currencies added (AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, EGP, THB, IDR, MYR, PHP, VND, ARS, CLP, AUD, CAD, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, NZD, SGD, HKD, ZAR, PLN, ILS, COP, etc.).
  • 9 new languages supported (Arabic, Traditional Chinese, Dutch, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Polish, Danish, Swedish).
  • Custom categories with personalized icons & color coding.
  • Interactive spending charts & cleaner, less annoying reminders.
  • Noticeable performance boosts and faster data loading.

Pricing:

  • Free core version
  • Optional Premium (monthly / yearly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase)

Big thank you to everyone who tested early builds, reported edge-case bugs, and shared ideas.

I’d love to know what you think of the new features, and what you feel is still missing. Any feedback is super appreciated! 🙏

I built a privacy-first expense tracker for iPhone. 100% offline, 1,000+ users, no accounts, no cloud.

Hey everyone 👋

A while ago, I built an expense tracker because I didn’t feel comfortable uploading my financial data to the cloud just to track my spending.

I shared it here when it was still very early, and a lot of the feedback I received on Reddit directly influenced the updates that followed. Since then, Flux has grown to over 1,000 users with 50+ premium subscribers, and I've continued improving it with every release.

Problem it solves:

Most expense apps require accounts and sync your financial data online.

Flux is designed for people who want to track spending while keeping their financial data completely private.

Why it's different:

• 100% offline, no accounts, no cloud, no tracking

• On-device receipt scanning (OCR)

• AI-powered insights running locally on your device

• Lock Screen widget for quick expense logging

• Fast, simple, and privacy-focused

What's new since my last post:

• Recurring transactions system (replaces the old monthly expense/income setup)

• New recurring intervals: every 2 weeks and every 4 weeks

• Lifetime purchase option added

• Locale-aware number formatting throughout the entire app (works naturally with commas or dots depending on your region)

• 25+ supported currencies including AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, EGP, THB, IDR, MYR, PHP, VND, ARS, CLP, AUD, CAD, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, NZD, SGD, HKD, ZAR, PLN, ILS, and COP

• New languages added: Arabic, Traditional Chinese, Dutch, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Polish, Danish, and Swedish

• Custom categories with your own icons and colors

• Smarter, less intrusive notifications

• Interactive spending analysis charts

• Major performance improvements, memory optimizations, and faster data loading

The goal has always been to make privacy practical, not just a feature, but the default.

Pricing:

• Free version available

• Premium subscription (monthly/yearly)

• Lifetime purchase available

A huge thank you to everyone who gave feedback on my previous posts. Many of the improvements above came directly from user suggestions and real-world usage.

Would love to hear what you think and what you'd like to see next 🙏

I updated my offline expense tracker based on Reddit feedback (v2.2)

https://preview.redd.it/wpzkzio7dw0h1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=2e92da3d1388397a3a1af31b18f45961cebfd521

Hey everyone 👋

A few days ago, I posted my offline expense tracker here and got a lot of genuinely helpful feedback.

So I spent the last days turning those comments into a real update.

Problem it solves:

Most finance apps still require accounts, cloud sync, and uploading sensitive financial data online.

Flux is built for people who want simple expense tracking without giving up privacy.

What changed in v2.2 based on Reddit feedback:

• Recurring transactions now support weekly, bi-weekly, and 4-week intervals

• Locale-aware number formatting (fixes comma/period currency issues)

• Improved recurring editing flow

• Lifetime purchase option added

Why it’s different:

• 100% offline, no accounts, no cloud, no tracking

• On-device receipt scanning (OCR)

• AI-based insights running locally

• Lock Screen widgets

• Privacy-first design

Pricing:

• Free version available

• Premium subscription (monthly/yearly)

• Lifetime purchase now available

Still actively improving it based on user feedback, so I’d genuinely love to hear more thoughts 🙌

▲ 2 r/micro_saas+1 crossposts

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking to contribute to a micro SaaS project on a volunteer basis, ideally something early-stage where I can add value and collaborate with like-minded builders.

A bit about me:

  • I work full-time as an IT Systems Manager, so I have strong, hands-on experience with servers, infrastructure, and system management.
  • I have frontend development experience and have built a few projects in the past.
  • I’m also comfortable with design tools like Photoshop and Affinity, so I can help with UI/UX and visual assets as well.

I’m mainly looking to:

  • Support an existing project that needs technical or design help
  • Collaborate with founders building something interesting
  • Gain experience in the micro SaaS space and contribute meaningfully

I’m not looking for payment at this stage—just want to be part of a project, learn, and help bring something to life.

If you’re working on something and think I could help, feel free to comment or DM me.

Thanks!

Hey everyone 👋

Most expense tracking apps I tried required an account and uploaded everything to the cloud.

I wasn’t really comfortable putting my financial data out there, so I decided to build my own.

It’s called Expense Tracker Offline - Flux. 100% offline expense tracker for iPhone.

The core idea:

• No accounts

• No cloud sync

• No tracking

• Everything stays on your device

I’ve been improving it over the past months, and I just released a new update with:

• Lock Screen widget (you can track spending without opening the app)

• Smarter budgets with clearer progress

• Faster budget editing

• Spending trends over time

It also has:

• Receipt scanning (on-device OCR)

• AI-based insights

• Widgets & reports

Still early (~500 downloads), but I’m actively working on it.

Would really appreciate any feedback 🙏
