Advice on transferring to UCLA/Berkeley + any Cali 4 year?

hi I just finished summer quarter and will be spending the next 2 years at cc. Though my goal ultimately is to transfer to ucla or Berkeley (ikik) I plan to tag at UCSB and apply to other UCs + CSU’s as to not put all my eggs in one basket. However, since Im just starting cc how is my plan to increase my chances of transferring to a 4 year:

- focusing on major prep first (my majors English) both ucla & Berkeley will be done by the fall of sophomore year

- igetc probably won’t be done till winter of sophomore year so how much could that hurt my chances?

- my school doesnt offer ucla tap so is it better to apply for a less competitive major like American lit then?

- as for EC’s how much do they matter? Because I think it will be my weakest point in application. im going to need to get a part time job, was thinking of joining a club at cc I’d have fun in -> become an officer next year and I’m hoping to do an internship relating to my major of some kind. It wouldn’t be very impressive but is that ok?

- over the summer before sophomore year I was hoping to do ucla cccp or Berkeley summer sessions.

any advice anyone here has would be very helpfull!

basically all my major prep classes isn’t available in one year but I heard somewhere that its bad to have your classes come from different cc‘s, is this true? I will say I am planning to take classes at both De Anza & Foothill which are in the same district. Trying to maximize my chances of transferring 🙏.
