Freshman will be required to live on campus beginning next year

I feel like this is a horrible decision. I know tons of kids, I included, who chose temple specifically so we could live at home and take the train in. This is going to make a lot of people mad.

Any older students having a hard time making friends?

I moved here last December from the west coast and have had a hard time connecting on campus. My first semester was kind of isolating and I really want to make an effort to make more friends in campus this fall semester. I’m 28 so I’m older than many of the student body. Are there any other older students looking for friends at temple?

PHEAA State Grant is confirmed on GrantUs portal but not showing on my school bill (Due Sept 10th) – Advice?

I am looking for some advice or to see if anyone else is dealing with this right now.

My fall semester college bill is around $9,000 and it is due on September 10th.

I logged into my PHEAA GrantUs portal and it says I have a confirmed PA State Grant amount of about $2,600 for the fall.

However, my school's financial aid portal and my actual tuition bill are not showing the grant at all. Right now, the bill still says I owe the full $9,000.

I called both PHEAA and temples financial aid office

PHEAA said I had everything good on my side, Temple told me to email them with a screenshot of my confirmed amount from PHEAA. I emailed them and the email has now gone unanswered for 7 days.

Any advice on how to handle this??? Am I gonna have the pay the bill without my PA grant?? Any help would be appreciated:).

Temple 2023 Grad → Pharmacist → Startup Founder

As a Temple 2023 graduate, I'm really passionate about being part of the Temple alumni community and showing the creativity and ambition that my experience there helped bring out of me.
Temple taught me more than just what I needed to become a pharmacist. It pushed me to think independently, solve problems, and be willing to build something of my own.
That mindset eventually helped me create Broad Street - the Wall Street of cards, a platform designed to make trading card collecting and investing simpler, more transparent, and more accessible.
Just 13 days after launching, we've already crossed 500 users.
I'm proud to be a Temple alum and proud to show that the foundation you build there can lead you in directions you may have never expected.

Should I email a professor if I don’t think he will remember me?

When I was in college my partner passed away and I went through a really hard time. This professor and one other where the only ones to give me the option to do my work whenever I could get it done and still get full credit for it. That was the only reason I was able to pass those two classes. I want to email them and tell them that they made a huge impact on my academic journey and they are part of the reason I’m going to grad school. I also want to thank them for what they did for me. I’m worried they won’t remember who I am though because this was over a year ago. I also did not participate much in there class so we didn’t speak one on one to each other that much. I am worried this might be too heavy of a topic if they don’t know me that well. Should I still send the email?

eucalyptus soap

at least last semester and last year for sure, many of the bathrooms around campus (anderson, gladfelter, alter, library, probably more if not all buildings) used to use a soap that smells of eucalyptus. mid last semester i noticed them slowly going away in exchange for a more standard floral soap. i cannot say that either cleans the hands better, however the eucalyptus one undeniably has better smell right after/during washing AND 1-2 hours later. the floral one seems ok at the first stage but i think the more time away from the wash session, the more the hands just smell like the brown paper towels with slight soap notes. perhaps i am biased since i love the scent of eucalyptus but i can't imagine anyone thinking the floral is the better soap, unless the issue is money (i won't play dumb, i know how it is and this is how it is). of course temple wants to save money wherever they can but why the soaps? if we were using it before, surely it's not that expensive, right? how can you ignore the positive side effects of a good smelling soap when mere cents per gallon is the issue? do administrators not use the same bathrooms as us? anyway i just wanted to state my position on the matter semi-anonymously because i definitely don't need the irl backlash right now. i'd love to hear other thoughts if you have any

To the person in The Vantage living in room 1007 in the West Tower

Your smoke detector kept beeping at 9 in the fucking morning and the walls are thin asf, so it’s genuinely easy for everyone to hear it. If you don’t know how to use kitchen appliances, don’t use them at all.

Full 2026 preseason preview for Missouri State, with returning production, the portal, a two-deep and the schedule.

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Missouri State one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-most

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Casey Woods takes over for his first year and Jacob Clark's 3,244 yards and 28 touchdowns are gone, replaced by Duke transfer Henry Belin IV, who has 22 career passing yards. That offense was 16th nationally in passing yards per game last season, and the line that has to protect the new guy gave up 52 sacks. Only 26% of production returns, 19 came in through the portal, and the model has the Bears 110th. Does Woods hold 7-6 together, or is this the year it resets?

I'll be in the comments.

Anna Peak For IH 2 Honors, how is her class?

Pretty much the title, I just got her syllabus and it seems pretty intense lol heres how she grades them:

"Assignments

Participation … 33%.

Reading quizzes … 34%.

Exams (midterm and final) … 33%.

The midterm exam will be one essay; the final exam will be two essays, so you will write a total of

three in-class essays. Each essay is therefore worth 11% of your total course grade. Both exams are

closed book, no notes; the final exam is cumulative."

If anyone has taken her let me know if it isnt as bad as it looks or imma just drop to take a easy gen end and get a better prof next time around.

first year dining plan question

using the unlimited plan as an example (most economic?), the unlimited aspect applies to the Esposito/J&H Dining Hall, correct?

also, say I was looking to live as healthy as possible, is the unlimited plan worth it? I heard its pretty butt since all their protein is oily and frozen — is the 12 Plan + trucks really the most optimal solution?

TUPortal Missing Update and Question for Early Applicants for 2027

Twelve days ago I posted about my TUPortal not showing up after applying on the 1st of August. It still hasn't shown up, and I've called again about it. My common application isnt even showing up in the system yet. The guy on the phone said things can get jammed up in ths shrem with overlapping application times which...Idk sounds odd to me.

I'll give it a bit more time but I just gotta ask are there any early applicants who have gotten their TUPortal link by now?

Edit: I meant the Applicant portal not TUPortal, apologies I didn't know they were two different things
