Laundry chute for… kitchen rags?

We have this weird tiny laundry chute (?) in our kitchen and we have to the conclusion that it’s for kitchen rags. The landing is just above the utility area in the basement. Was this a thing? House is from 1944.

Gut check about cleaning possible asbestos containing floor

There is an area in our converted attic where the carpet is just floating on the old flooring. The old flooring looks like it may be sheet linoleum (just my guess - it’s a sheet of something). I’ll include a photo in the comments. From my brief online search, it seems like if there is asbestos, it would be in the backing. So I just wanted to check - it would be okay for me to lift up the carpet and properly wipe the orange flooring underneath, right? I’m not planning on trying to rip up the linoleum (for now).

Location: Midwest US. House was built in the 1940s but the attic was converted at a later point. The walls are drywall rather than plaster like downstairs, if that helps with dating.

Help fitting forsasong on my desk

Does anyone have ideas on how I could make the FORSASONG cord organizer work with my desk? It’s actually an Ikea dining table that has a beveled edge, which I didn’t remember when I bought the cord organizer 😣

Plywood in the middle of my 1940s doors

We recently bought this 1944 house and the doors have had me confused! All doors have a thin middle panel. I found some old photos (4th photo) that show what it looked like before the panels were painted. My guess has been that this used to be glass (I’ve seen that on interior doors in a 1930 house). But that doesn’t explain the bathroom and closet doors, right? The entryway closet (3rd photo) has a mirror on the inside, which makes me think maybe all the other doors used to be the same. But that’s so many mirrors, including two in each bedroom (closet door + main door)! I’m hoping maybe some of you have seen an original version of this style of door.

Bonus question: Does the floor tile in the last photo look like it’s original?

Thank you!!

Is this mold under the sink?

We moved into our house just a week ago and I found this stain on the baseboard and part of the wall under the bathroom vanity. Could this be mold? From what I can tell, the wall and baseboard appear to be plastic, which is an interesting choice but maybe mold resistant? I’m just trying to figure out whether I should attempt cleaning this or could it be black mold? The back edge of the sink is not caulked so I believe water gets behind that way.
