My doctor prescribed me metformin, knowing I have gastroparesis

Long story short, I'm taking Abilify, an atypical antipsychotic that fucks my blood sugar to pieces, making it skyrocket and then plummet. I've had insulin resistance and prediabetes in the past, so I think I'm just prone to that side effect.

When I told my doc that it was messing with my blood sugar levels, he prescribed me metformin.

A GLP-1 caused my GP. Is this a terrible idea?

One one hand, Abilify works for me and is WAY more affordable compared to my last antipsychotic, which my new insurance doesn't cover. On the other, I don't want to deal with hyper/hypoglycemia anymore.

My GP is pretty moderate. Will Metformin make it worse? Has anyone taken it? I've taken metformin before, but that was before I got gastroparesis.
