Dads who show up “just enough”

To the dads who show up just enough… you are another kind of pos.

You show face.
You come by to cook dinner now and then.
You pick up from school so people know you’re around.

You’re all show.

You care more about yourself.
Your love is conditional.

You are the same kind of dad who abandons their kids— you just disguise yourself differently. You are one foot in and one foot out.

You think it’s a charity to be a father. You don’t know what it takes to give yourself to the love of your child. You think you know love, but you only know the comfort of your own world, and that world is sad and pathetic.

For every dad who thinks they are “at least” better than ‘that guy’…. you make me sick. Gth.

Planting micro clover, moss and thyme in brick patio.

A community member here suggested I plant micro clover, moss, and thyme in my patio because I am dealing with the weeds issue and I think that re-sanding it as a renter is going to be too much for me (single mom, work full time… sounds like either I pay someone or do it). My landlord does not want to be bothered about this, so I won’t bother. Plus, the last thing I want is my rent raised.

We will be here probably at least the next 4-5 years until I can buy a home so I want to really enjoy it during my son’s childhood years!

I loved this idea about planting moss, thyme and micro clover. So I want to ask others if they think this could work for this kind of patio? Should I do it?

Help with brick patio weeds

Hi all,

I am a renter and a single mom, so trying not to bring in a contractor, but if I have to— please just say it!

I have been struggling this year with the weeds on the patio. Years prior it was never this bad. This year it is like I am out there for hours and get nowhere.

I borrowed a power washer in the spring and it only was a massive mess and didn’t even splash out all the weeds (mostly the dirt and sand!). After getting a chunk of dirt in my eye and making a huge mess I put that down.

Now it’s heating up and the weeds have died. Today I spent 2 hours trying to pull them out, and even scrape them out, but again… it feels like this can’t be the solution?

What do I do? I want to enjoy the patio and am willing to try out your suggestions.

I did just finish some gardening so there is more debris around, but you can see the weeds very clearly.

Thanks

Edit: Thanks for tips! The more I look at these photos I realize this patio is really looking bent out of shape. The brick, too. Pointers on cleaning up the brick without a power washer appreciated, too
