Denver Post: 70 years of St. Louis history is stuck in a Denver data center, PBS station claims

“A St. Louis PBS station says its 70-year archive of programming is stuck in a Denver data center after a cloud storage company cut off the TV station’s access to the 50 terabytes of data this spring. Nine PBS filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Denver District Court seeking the safe return of the data, which the station’s attorneys believe is being stored within Iron Mountain Data Centers DEN-1, a data center at 4300 Brighton Road in north Denver.”

Ballwin public works official is charged in fatal road rage shooting in O'Fallon REALLY? YOU HAD TO KILL THE GUY??

Officials say Farek called 911 shortly after 3:30 p.m., telling dispatchers, "someone just attacked me, and I just shot him." He later told police that he was punched through the window of his car, and that his face was hurting, according to the probable cause statement. But St. Charles County Prosecutor Joe McCulloch said evidence shows Farek was the aggressor Tuesday. Farek sped past Sherman's Chevy Equinox on the left shoulder of the highway and then immediately hit the brakes of his Toyota Prius, miles before the Winghaven exit, McCulloch said. paywall: https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-courts/article_a7864adb-5c71-493f-ba62-26646706a439.html#tracking-source=home-top-story

Supreme Court Rejects Lawsuit Alleging Roundup Weedkiller Caused Cancer

In the 7-to-2 decision, written by Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, the majority found that a federal law that regulates pesticides barred the Missouri man’s lawsuit.

Justice Kavanaugh wrote that the Missouri case would “require a cancer warning on Roundup’s label,” which would directly conflict with the label required by the federal Environmental Protection Agency. Because of this conflict, he wrote, federal law “expressly pre-empts” the Missouri man’s claim.

The dispute focused on a single case, a $1.25 million award for John Durnell, a gardener in St. Louis who had used Roundup for decades and claimed that years of exposure to the product led him to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a blood cancer. Mr. Durnell claimed that the company had failed to warn consumers of the dangers of the product.

Businesses unfazed by sinkhole in Brentwood Promenade parking lot. 'Just one more thing'

BRENTWOOD — Store managers at the Brentwood Promenade shopping center here said it's business as usual after a small sinkhole opened up in the southwest corner of the plaza's parking lot earlier this week.

By Thursday, the hole, which is less than one parking space wide, was covered with a metal plate and blocked off with orange mesh fencing. Shoppers paid no attention to the area as they walked to and from their cars.

And nearby businesses, at 1 Brentwood Promenade Ct. off of I-64, were unmoved by the cavity. At Micro Center, Paul Peters, inventory manager, said that the sinkhole wasn’t stopping customers from coming in or interrupting business at the electronics store. “People in general just hate our parking lot,” Peters said. “That’s the stereotype of the parking lot, so it’s just one more thing.”
