Is it possible to do dropshipping on eBay in 2026?

Title

I did Amazon to eBay DS for 3 years in 2018-2021, I made 2.5 a month in profit.

I left because I felt it wasn't ethical and I felt isn't a real long term business.

But now I realized this was the best and more friendly way to make money from scratch to start a real business later.

So, I now I'd like start again to do DS but know I'd like to do wholesale eBay dropshipping instead of using retailers like Amazon. I feel this it's more ethical and more like real business. My questions are:

  1. What has it changed in eBay dropshipping community since 2020? Is it possible to do eBay dropshipping in 2026?

  2. How hard is it to do WHOLESALE eBay dropshping versus Amazon to eBay Dropshipping?

Thanks

What’s the risk of customs confiscation for a DDP grey channel shipment (China to US)?

Hey guys,

What are the actual chances of a package getting seized by US customs if it's shipped from China via sea DDP grey channels? I'm trying to weigh the risk vs. reward here.

I want to import motorcycle spare parts with a high variety of SKUs but only 1-2 pieces per SKU (max 1 CBM total).

From what I know, doing this 100% legally isn't viable because classifying that many tariff codes would be a nightmare.

Right now, this seems like my only alternative. In your experience, how risky is it?

Thanks!

Is it viable to import a mixed batch of motorcycle parts from China to the US? (Many SKUs, low volume)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into legally importing a mixed batch of motorcycle parts from China to the US via sea freight (LCL).

My business model requires high variety but very low volume right now—meaning I have a long list of different SKUs, but only 1–2 pieces per SKU (e.g., mirrors, cables, plastics, footpegs).

I have two main questions:

HTS Classification: Can most of these motorcycle parts be grouped and classified under a single generic basket code, specifically HTS 8714.10.0050 ("Other parts and accessories for motorcycles")? Or will CBP/my customs broker require strict, individual classification for every single type of item, making it a meticulous and expensive process?

Viability: If strict individual classification is required, I assume the broker fees per line/item will completely eat up my profit margins. Has anyone successfully imported a high-SKU, low-volume mix into the US via sea freight without going broke on customs paperwork?

I am completely fine with paying the standard duties and Section 301 tariffs, I just want to know if the entry process itself will be a logistical nightmare due to the variety of SKUs.

Any advice or experiences would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Is there a legal DDP per kg service?

Hi everyone!

Is there a legal DDP per kg service?

I'm wondering if the DPP (parcel per kg) service offered by Chinese freight forwarders can be done legally, or is it only possible through gray (illegal) channels?

Thank you guys

First time importing China -> US. Is DDP Sea Parcel too risky?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning my very first import from China to the US with a very tight budget. Since I'm just trying to learn the ropes without risking too much capital, I’ve been researching shipping options.

I’ll be buying directly from 1688 and hiring my own freight forwarder (not using the seller's shipping).

From what I understand, the cheapest route for small budgets is usually DDP Sea Parcel per kg services. However, I’ve read that these services often operate through "gray" or questionable customs channels to keep costs low.

My plan is to eventually do everything 100% legally once I scale and save up capital, but for this first test run, I have a few questions:

How risky is it using DDP Sea Parcel per kg service? What are the actual chances of customs seizing or losing the merchandise?

Is it worth the risk just to learn and get started, or is it a terrible idea even for a first timer?

Any tips on finding a reliable freight forwarder for 1688 orders that won't scam me?

Would love to hear from anyone who has used these services before. Thanks in advance!

DDP "Internal Insurance" from freight forwarders – Is it a scam if cargo gets seized?

DDP "Internal Insurance" from freight forwarders – Is it a scam if cargo gets seized?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into importing a small shipment via a DDP grey/informal channel (consolidated container).

I want to ask the forwarder if they offer an internal insurance that covers 100% of the cargo and shipping costs in case it doesn't arrive at my door."

Since this is an informal route, this insurance obviously isn't backed by an actual corporate insurer like Chubb. It’s just the forwarder's word.

If customs actually seizes the whole container, what are the realistic chances of them actually reimbursing me?

Do they usually vanish, blame "force majeure", or actually pay up? Is paying for this internal insurance a waste of money?

Thanks!

Importing low-to-mid CC motorcycle parts: Does actual weight or volumetric volume usually dominate?

Hey everyone,

I’m setting up a logistics calculator to import mixed batches of spare parts for low and mid CC motorcycles (mostly mechanical, electrical parts, pedals, accessories, etc. NO body plastics, and NO tires).

I'm trying to figure out what usually dominates the Chargeable Weight for these specific types of imports.

For those of you who have experience importing mixed motorcycle spares:

Does the cargo usually trend towards "heavy/dense" (actual weight) or "bulky" (volumetric weight)?

What usually dominates the shipping invoice if you don't optimize the packaging?

Any insights on how these parts usually cube out would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Is 21kg Sea DDP too small? AI says 1 CBM minimum, friend says $10k min, forwarder says one 25 kg box is fine. What’s the catch?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to start a small business importing motorcycle spare parts from China to the USA. I want to test the market first with the absolute minimum volume possible without getting absolutely destroyed by fixed costs and losing my margin.

However, I am getting completely conflicting information from three different sources and I need a reality check:

The AI: It keeps telling me that for Ocean Freight (LCL), I absolutely need to import at least 1 CBM for it to be financially viable because of port fees, customs bonds, and documentation costs.

An Online friend: Someone in an e-commerce group told me that unless I am spending at least $10,000 USD on product value, ocean freight fixed costs will eat up all my profit.

The Chinese Forwarder: I’ve been talking to a reputable forwarder on WhatsApp and they told me they can ship via Sea Freight DDP (Door-to-Door) with a minimum weight of just 21–22 kg (basically one single carton). They gave me a flat rate per kilo with customs, clearance, and domestic UPS delivery all included.

My question is: Who is telling the truth here? Is the forwarder lying/hiding fees, or is a 21kg sea shipment actually a thing now?

If I ship just one 21kg box under DDP, do I still have to worry about those massive fixed destination port fees, or does the per-kilo DDP price actually cover everything from the factory to my door in Texas?

Would really appreciate some insight from anyone who has actually imported small batches using Sea DDP. Thanks in advance!

How many years of experience I need to get a remote job like a embedded software engineer?

I made I post about how many years I need to get a remote job like embedded system engineer, and everyone say I need several years, but what about embedded software? It's easier to get a remote job like a embedded software than embedded system engineer?

Thanks
