Hey guys, if you missed it, CytoDyn just settled $500K with investors over claims it misled the market about its drug leronlimab some time ago. And they have already sent the agreement to the court for final approval.

In a nutshell, in 2021, CytoDyn was accused of overstating the effectiveness and regulatory progress of leronlimab. In short, the FDA later said the company’s claims were not supported by data, revealing no clear benefit.

After this news came out, the stock dropped 25%, and investors filed a lawsuit for their losses.

The good news is that the company recently agreed to settle $500K with them, and already sent this agreement to the court for final approval. So, if you invested in $CYDY when all of this happened, you can check the details and file your claim here.

Anyway, has anyone here invested in $CYDY at that time? How much were your losses, if so?

▲ 96 r/Business_China+46 crossposts

Most people who followed $CYDY remember March 30, 2021. The FDA publicly stated that CytoDyn's claims about leronlimab were "misleading and not supported by the data", no benefit was shown in COVID-19 treatment trials. The stock dropped 25%+ that day.

What happened afterward was a class action lawsuit covering investors who held $CYDY between March 27, 2020 and March 30, 2022.

A $500,000 settlement has been reached and terms are now submitted to the court for approval.

Who qualifies?

Anyone who held $CYDY during the class period and suffered losses from the alleged misrepresentations about leronlimab's effectiveness for HIV and COVID-19.

Can I still apply?

Yes, you can submit your application now and it will be processed once claims filing officially opens after court approval.

If you were damaged by this don't forget to check your eligibility. GL!

Chemical and Safety Compliance for World Cup Merchandise — REACH, CPSIA, and Flammability Tests That Prevent Customs Seizures

A lot of importers focus on print quality and stitching for World Cup merchandise, but the bigger risk is usually chemical and safety compliance.

Things like jerseys, scarves, plush mascots, pins, and flags can get stopped at customs for issues most factories never test for internally:

  • Phthalates in prints or plastics
  • Lead in metal components
  • Azo dyes in fabrics
  • Flammability failures in scarves/banners
  • Missing CPSIA tracking labels for US-bound goods

One thing many people don’t realize is how fragmented production is in China. A factory might source fabric, dyes, printing, zippers, and packaging from completely different subcontractors. That creates a lot of compliance blind spots.

During the 2022 World Cup cycle, EU customs reportedly rejected hundreds of shipments of sports merchandise over chemical non-compliance issues alone.

For anyone importing sports merchandise into the EU or US, pre-shipment inspections are useful — but document verification and lab testing matter even more.

The expensive part usually isn’t the testing itself. It’s the customs hold, missed sales window, and dead inventory if something fails after shipment.

Curious if anyone here has dealt with REACH, CPSIA, or flammability testing issues with sports merchandise imports before.

22 Years Old With ₹10 Lakhs — Want to Start a Low-Risk Business From China, Need Genuine Advice & Mentorship

Hey everyone,
I’m 22 years old and currently have around ₹10 lakhs saved. I don’t come from a big business background, but I’m very hungry to build something real and create financial freedom for myself.

I’ve been researching importing products from China and starting a business in India, but honestly, the biggest challenge is figuring out:
- What products actually work
- How to find trustworthy suppliers
- How to avoid beginner mistakes
- And how to start with minimal risk

I’m not looking for “get rich quick” schemes. I genuinely want to learn how smart people build businesses with limited capital and scale slowly.

If anyone here has experience with:
- Import/export business
- Trading
- Manufacturing
- E-commerce
- Private labeling
- Alibaba sourcing
- Or any low-risk business models

…I would seriously appreciate your advice.

And if someone experienced is open to mentorship or guidance, even paid mentorship if reasonable, I’d love to connect and learn properly.

My goal is simple: build a stable business with long-term potential instead of wasting money experimenting blindly.

Would really appreciate any guidance from people who’ve actually done it. Thanks 🙏

How I Visited Factories in China, Still Overpaid, and Now Need a Trusted Sourcing Agent

Hi everyone,

I’ve been importing bathroom products for several years and distribute sanitaryware in Morocco. My main products are toilets, wash basins, faucets, LED mirrors, bathtubs, and bathroom accessories.

Last year, I attended the Canton Fair hoping to find reliable manufacturers. At first, everything looked promising. Many suppliers claimed they were factories with “top quality” products and highly competitive prices.

After narrowing down a few suppliers, I traveled to their cities to visit them in person. Some were legitimate factories, but like many importers, I learned that what you see during the visit and what you receive later are not always the same.

The quality was generally acceptable, but in several cases it didn’t fully justify the price I paid.

I hired an inspection agent to check the goods before shipment, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions I made.

During the inspection, they found a significant number of items with serious manufacturing defects. Rejecting those products before shipment saved me from potentially costly problems once the goods arrived in Morocco.

They also identified some products with minor cosmetic issues or imperfect finishes. Since these defects were relatively easy and inexpensive to fix locally, the supplier agreed to offer those items at 50% of the original price.

Overall, the inspection saved me a considerable amount of money and helped me make better decisions about which products were worth accepting.

Then came the most frustrating part.

Once WeChat started understanding what I was searching for, I began seeing ads and recommendations for what appeared to be the exact same products at half the price.

That leaves you with a constant question:

Did I actually buy from the right factory, or did I overpay significantly?

This year, I’m planning to attend KBC Shanghai, since it is much more specialized in kitchen and bathroom products than the Canton Fair.

My goal is to build long-term relationships with truly competitive manufacturers offering a strong balance of quality and price.

So I’d love to get advice from people with real experience:

  1. Have you worked with a sourcing agent specialized in sanitaryware and bathroom products?
  2. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy agent who can:
    • Identify real factories (not trading companies)
    • Benchmark prices objectively
    • Arrange factory visits
    • Negotiate with suppliers
    • Conduct thorough quality inspections
  3. Is it better to hire an agent before attending KBC Shanghai, so they can help pre-select factories and schedule visits?
  4. Any lessons learned when sourcing toilets, faucets, LED mirrors, bathroom furniture, or accessories in China?

I’m not looking for the cheapest products on the market. I’m looking for reliable factories that offer the best value for money and can become long-term partners.

Any recommendations, personal experiences, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for sourcing agent that could connect to pad printing for Lego mini figures

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to hire a sourcing agent who can help me build a vetted list of high-end toy factories in China. Right now, the goal is just gathering leads

I need contacts, WhatsApp numbers, or WeChat IDs of manufacturers who specialize in premium, collector-grade custom minifigures and accessories.

If you're an agent, here is exactly what I'm looking for:

Location: probably going to target factories in Chenghai (Shantou) or Dongguan in Guangdong province. These places seem to be the hubs for this sort of thing.

I need "High-End Toy Customizers" (高端玩具定制工厂) or "Precision Pad Printing Shops" (精细移印加工厂). Do not send me generic mass-production factories; they won't do small batches. I need shops that cater to the independent collector market. I’m talking quantities at 50 and up to 250

Resin Vacuum Casting: In addition to plastics, the factory must be capable of resin vacuum casting (真空注型 / 复模). I need this for making low-volume, highly detailed custom prototype parts, helmets, hairpieces, and weapons. Some places called this soft mold injection mowing.

Printing: They must have deep experience with multi-color pad printing (移印). Crucially, they need to know how to print on super irregular/curved surfaces (like complex helmets or the sides of hips/legs) using custom silicone pads and jigs.

Airbrushing & Dual-Molding: The factory needs a dust-free booth for hand-airbrushing (for gradients and weathering) and the capability to work with or create dual-molded / overmolded plastics (like legs with built-in boots) using this airbrush

They should be able to combine these methods on a single piece.

Experience: They should have a proven portfolio printing for popular independent custom brands or well-known pop-culture IPs.

Right now, I just need a list of verified contacts who check these boxes so I can start reaching out. However, I am open to working with someone that could help me consistently and act as a middleman for quality control.

Did you know that prices at Chinese factories are higher than those at middlemen?

I haven't been in this community long, and I've already realized that Americans really don't understand China. You don't know that the factories you find are actually the biggest middlemen. The real Chinese factories with price advantages don't do trade; they only produce the products and sell them to middlemen. This is because all factory owners used to be factory workers and have little to no formal education. Middlemen often add a small profit before reselling. For example, I sold borosilicate glass cups for five years. In my industry, a double-walled Starbucks glass cup might cost 15 RMB if you sourced it directly from the factory, but only 10 RMB from a smaller middleman. The factory's actual cost might be 6 RMB. Due to policy reasons in China, small factories have much lower costs than large factories. If you only want to buy low-priced, reliable goods, you should look for experienced middlemen, not factories. The factories you find only indicate their strength, but their prices won't be very low. Of course, this only applies to certain industries.

How Long Does Sourcing from China Really Take?

One of the most common misconceptions about sourcing from China is that production begins the moment a purchase order is placed. In reality, there are several steps that must happen before manufacturing even starts, and each one can add time to the overall process.

After the purchase order is issued, the supplier usually needs to confirm specifications, finalize commercial terms, and receive the deposit payment. Only then can they begin procuring raw materials and preparing any required samples. Once samples are approved, mass production begins, followed by quality inspections, final payment, and shipment.

For customized products, the timeline can be longer than many buyers expect. Identifying and vetting suppliers may take several weeks. Sampling and revisions can add another few weeks, especially if changes are needed. Production itself often takes 30 to 90 days, depending on product complexity and order volume. Ocean freight to the United States typically adds another 25 to 45 days, followed by customs clearance and final delivery.

As a result, the total time from initial supplier outreach to products arriving at a warehouse often ranges from three to six months.

Delays are common when product specifications are incomplete, sample approvals are slow, raw materials are unavailable, or quality issues are discovered late in the process. Seasonal congestion and shipping disruptions can also extend timelines.

The most effective way to reduce lead times is through planning. Clear specifications, fast decision-making, realistic production schedules, and well-timed inspections can make a significant difference.

Successful sourcing from China is not just about finding the right supplier or negotiating the lowest price. It is about understanding the full process and building enough time into the schedule to avoid costly surprises.

How long does it typically take your company to move from purchase order to delivered product when sourcing from China?
