Yerevan City Council renames Amiryan Street after King Pap

Yerevan City Council renames Amiryan Street after King Pap

Just another proof how undemocratic the Civil Contract Party actually is they could easily get a W here and discuss the renaming of Amiryan street with the public but no they just try to enforce it without actual dialogue

The two Armenian Visions emerging from this election

I did my own analysis back in 2023 when I noticed how much Armenia had started investing in its military-industrial sector. As this sector continues to grow, it may eventually create economic and political incentives for actors who benefit from a more confrontational hostile environment.
One of the long term consequences of this development is that parts of the political and economic elite could become increasingly dependent on the expansion of the defense industry. In my view, this was one of the strategic assets that Pashinyan helped build, whether intentionally or not, as a means of strengthening Armenia's position in a volatile region ( at this point it will expand from itself they already have contracts outside of the country).
What the video refers to as "Likud Armenians" (personally, I think Sasna Tsrer is a more accurate comparison) could ultimately benefit from these developments. Their rise could be enabled by the political blindness and complacency of what the video describes as the "Weimar Armenians."
If these trends continue without serious public debate, more radical nationalist forces may gain influence.

I believe this is a real issue that deserves to be addressed openly rather than ignored.
It a good analogy to the article on why Armenia needs a leftist party.

Government may bypass parliament to constitutional referendum

"Galyan also said that although the ruling party did not win the parliamentary supermajority in Sunday’s election, which is required to initiate a constitutional referendum, Civil Contract could still do so by bypassing the parliament. The only option is through the collection of tens of thousands of citizens’ signatures“

I don‘t know what to say but it will cause a shitstorm definitely.
