Near Eastern Burrito

I use 7 spice, pomegranate molasses, and basmati. I also dip the leaves in boiling water once rinsed and I put a lemon in the middle of the pot.

Are there other variations?

Also prep time takes me all day lol

Looking for genuine friends in Armenia 🇦🇲

I’ve been living in Armenia for a while now, and one thing I’ve realised is how much I miss having a genuinely close circle of friends.

Back home, I had a really good group of people I could talk to, go out with, laugh with, or just sit around doing absolutely nothing. Here, I haven’t really found that yet.

I’m not looking for anything complicated or superficial. I’d genuinely love to meet people who are kind, respectful, have their own lives and interests, and are simply looking for real friendships too. No drama, no weird intentions, just good people who can eventually become actual friends.

I’m a medical student in Yerevan, so if you’re also studying, working, or just living here and looking for someone to hang out with, feel free to message me. Coffee, random walks, exploring Yerevan, trying new food, spontaneous plans. I’m honestly open to anything.

I know friendships don’t happen instantly, but I’d really like to find a few people here where it can naturally grow into something genuine. 🤍

If you’re looking for the same, say hi :)

Writing a Book About Armenian Identity, Diaspora++

Hi/parev everyone! :)

I’m building an Instagram page around a book I’m writing on Armenian identity, diaspora, and inheritance.

The project brings together memoir, research, and interviews, and it focuses on questions around culture, belonging, generational inheritance, and what it means to navigate Armenian identity across different lived experiences.

I’m also a 5x scholarship winner, and writing has become one of the main ways I document and study these questions in a serious, personal way.

If this sounds interesting to you, I’d love for you to follow the page: @armenian.musings

I’m sharing project updates, excerpts, educational posts, BTS, reflections, research and commentary as I build the book.

If you have thoughts, family stories, or perspectives on Armenian identity and diaspora, I’d genuinely love to hear them!

Anti-Armenian Propaganda

These two ladies were asked if there was a war between the US and Armenia where there was no right or wrong because neither side was the good guy or the bad guy, to whom would their allegiance be.

Now speaking for myself…

I was born and raised in the US, and yet my first allegiance is still to the motherland because no one is going to exterminate the US, but Armenia could be wiped off the map in a day. If the US was trying to wipe Armenia off the map, that would make it complicit in the Armenian genocide 2.0. I don't care what the US has done for me, I couldn't participate in that. Part of my affection for the US is my feeling that despite all our flaws, we are the good guys at heart. A US that was actively at war with Armenia with Armenia not having provoked that war would be a monster if in that war we were supporting the very nations to our left and right that wanted to wipe us off the map. However, if the US was trying to turn Armenia into a US state, then perhaps I could get behind that campaign because as painful as this would be, at least if Armenia was a US state, the Turks would never dare touch us again. If the US was invading Armenia to absorb it in its totality and not hand it in whole or in part to the Turks, then my allegiance could swing back in the US direction.

CONSCRIPTION: Would you be as kind to help me with these questions?

We are diaspora Armenians.

I (female) have acquired my Armenian citizenship this year and I want my brother to also have his Armenian passport.

He is 23 years old, and he will automatically become responsible for serving in the military.

However, he (as well as our grandparents and parents) lived all his life abroad. He does not speak Armenian, he has a huge ADHD and he is actually gay.

We think that these factors would cause him huge difficulties after acquiring the citizenship.

Is there something we can do without having to go through this military thing?

We have also considered the Special Residency Status, but we want to try the citizenship route before anything.

Thank you for your kindness.

Can you solve these riddles from Garin?

I found a book about life in Garin (Karin / Erzurum) and it recorded some fun riddles. I have the answer key so will post the answers but thought would be fun to see if anyone knows them. What are these things:

  1. Knots and pipes, knots and pipes- though I give its name, yet you do not understand

  2. The camel went to the bath, and its tail remained outside

  3. A mountain on a mountain, yet not a mountain; grazes in hills and mountains, yet not a kid: lays eggs, yet not a hen- what is it then?

  4. An untwisted thread and pearls without holes that God strings and man picks

Let me know if you want a post with more
