Have Libertarian groups or Libertarian communities made inroads in the US?

Specifically in the US, have Libertarian groups and/or Libertarian communities made any large, significant inroads in the past 100 years?

I think of John Stuart Mill's quote, "The freedom of the individual is limited thus: He must not make himself a nuisance to other people."

(I sincerely apologize if I've already been a nuisance here.)

As I think of that quote, I think, "Holy smokes! If I only had a nickel for all the times that I've perceived that ideal of Mill's to have been infringed upon or absolutely disregarded!"

As I write this, I also think of two individuals: Ross Perot and Jesse Ventura. But did they really significantly advance the libertarian philosophy?

Do you think we can make any generalizations about people of Armenian ancestry?

Would it be fair to say that, by and large, people of Armenian ancestry have "ashkhadaser"? (աշխատասեր in Eastern Armenian or աշխատասէր in Western Armenian)

Industrious, hard-working, loving work?

That's what my late father would say. He indeed had ashkhadaser. And yet when he was not working, he loved socializing with fellow Armenians (fortunately for him, he could speak Armenian) and watching those sorts of "Animal Planet" broadcasts. On TV they would show wild animals in the arctic polar regions or in the forests. He was completely mesmerized by that stuff when he wasn't working.

(As flair, I selected Parskahay/Barskahay because there wasn't an option for "worldwide diaspora).

In your view, do you think Andre Agassi should have publicly honored his Armenian father's Armenian heritage/background to a greater extent?

From what I understand, Andre Agassi's father was (is) Armenian and his mother was (is) a non-Armenian American.

He has celebrated his flashiness, his Las-Vegas-ness, his bright-and-shiny-colours/earrings-ness, his (previously) very long hair, and his sensibilities (from an older post/reel I saw recently). But his Armenian-ness? Not that I'm aware of.

Is it because his father wanted to erase, (so-to-speak) his Armenian-ness in public life?

Is it because his father's family was persecuted in Iran and was (even though in America) still too scared to identify as Armenian?

Or, perhaps did his father want to sort of "Americanize" himself and his family to the greatest possible extent?

I don't know, and I don't know him, and I don't know his family. I've only watched him on TV in the context of tennis and (more recently) pickleball and the non-Armenian wives he's had in his life (first, Brooke Shields Agassi and now, Steffi Graf Agassi).

John 2:10 specifically in the NASB and the ESV?

I'm reading John 2:1-11. I don't know Greek or Latin. But am I correct in saying that for John 2:10 in the NASB and the ESV, that the word for "drunk freely" is μεθυσθῶσιν (methusthōsin) at least *implies* that the guests at the wedding at Cana were drunk?

One of the webpages I'm looking at is https://openbible.com/commentaries/john/2-10.htm .

If God has given us every single thing we need (2 Peter 1), why should we use the Internet?

Please note that my question is not simply rhetorical -- it's a serious one.

I'm not here to bash any person or program or anything. I'm only here to ask questions.

There are people like a certain Internet-based psychologist who advocate a certain proprietary marrying finder. The program claims that you can find your true love. The program is available on the Internet and it claims it has helped a lot of Christian couples find each other and get married.

But 2 Peter 1:3-4 says, "God's divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

Therefore, isn't the idea of a dating site preposterous, according to 2 Peter 1:3-4?

Also, there are young people who have difficulties with impulse control. Some of them have ADD. Some of them have ADHD. Some of them have Autism. So: What about the idea of them taking prescription drugs to help curb those impulses?

For example, let's say a young Christian student often feels the urge to yell in his school classes. The teacher will be giving a lesson, -- and the young Christian will frequently be compelled to yell out loud and disrupt class.

So, let's say we give our child Ritalin, or other prescription drugs. Maybe he has ADHD. Or maybe he has Autism. So we give him medications.

I apologize if I've been presumptuous. It's a serious question I have regarding Scripture and what is actually Scriptural. Thank you.

Have you ever met a self-avowed UFO alien abductee (I have)

Have you ever met a self-avowed UFO alien abductee? I have. It was many years ago, on a college campus. He was very mild-mannered and very well self-composed. One of my "lingering questions" about what he said, and what his abduction experience was, is what has been their answer if and when you mention a "false memories created by hypnosis" theory. (I don't know what their answer is.) Also, I would be interested in the following:

- Have any of them claimed that dozens and dozens of them were abducted together, by UFO alien creatures, perhaps in the early 1980s, perhaps somewhere in New York state or elsewhere on the Eastern seaboard?

- Have any of them claimed that there would be an enormous, catastrophic earthquake in Los Angeles on May 4th, 1988? and that the UFO aliens predicted it?

- Have any of them described the aliens and/or their UFOs as being "transcendent" or "mystic" -- in other words, transcendent above human beings?

Thank you.

Addiction recovery and Scripture and psychotropic medication(s)

I would like to preface this by saying that I am not an addiction treatment professional. However, I would like to open the following up to discussion.

What do you think about partial reliance upon psychotropic medication(s) to help men with impulse control and addiction(s)?

I realize that some of you may say, "That's unbiblical, because we read in 2 Peter 1 (verses 3 and 4) that God has already given us absolutely everything we need to live a holy and pure life. And that would include self-control, as written about in Galatians 5."

But I would ask: In those times, people didn't live lives embedded with mainstream media, HD TV, the Internet and constant advertising and what-not, and young women surely took care to clothe themselves conservatively or fully, in New Testament times. Yes, there were harlots, but if you stayed within your community of believers, there would presumably not be harlots among you.

Additionally, I would like to say that for various reasons, I object to the advice, "You need to ASAP find a wife and get married." I object to that for various reasons. One big reason is that married men have told me, "Nope. I'm married and I still struggle with it." The movie "Fireproof", with Kirk Cameron, very briefly illustrates a man having temptation to communicate online with a young woman on a computer. (It may have been a tablet. I don't remember. Anyway, it was a device.)

And then I do have to admit that psychotropic meds are not available to everyone. Many men around the world might not have access to certain doctor(s) or prescribing psychiatric nurses. Many men around the world might not be able to get certain meds because there might be a waiting period or that they might have no medical insurance. And I'm guessing that there are countless numbers of struggling men without adequate medical insurance.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree that 1 Peter 2 says we don't need anything except for God himself? Assuming that that's true, then what else might we need in addition? Do we need 12-step group(s)? Do we need Sponsors? Also, if we're gifted a "study Bible", why a "study Bible"? I've had fellow believers admit to me that study Bibles might be fallible, because they have interpretations in the margins, and those interpretations in the margins could very well be wrong -- even though the Bible's text is inerrant.

Worshiping - Contrasts between the Bible and now?

Why do many of us raise our hands and raise our arms and open our palms, -- during the worship/praise music/singing/hymns/Chris Tomlin/Casting Crowns/Kings Kaleidoscope but not during the reading of Scripture prophecy or many other readings of Scripture during the church service?

If we look back at Nehemiah and Ezra and the book of Acts, we can see that people wept, trembled, fell on their faces, or shouted when the Law or prophetic words were read or preached (Nehemiah 8:9, Ezra 10, Acts 2:37, etc).

But look at us in 2026.

We raise our arms during the worship/praise music/singing and we cry, we outspeak cries of joy. But when the pastor or teacher is reading from the Bible, we're not raising our hands or raising our arms and we don't fall on our faces and we don't shout? Why are we not shouting? Why are we not raising our arms?

Scripture NEVER forbids us to shout or pant or cry when we're reading the Bible during church. Reading Scripture is PART OF the worship service, isn't it?

Any PC software that can translate your recorded vocals into sheet music?

Hello,

I believe I am new to all of the music forums here.

Hasn't there been PC software (or perhaps Mac only) that can take my recorded vocals and output sheet music?

Thank you.

Worship/praise characteristics

Hi. I am new. I have a brief question. Among modern church worshipers there seems to be a common characteristic. They raise their arms high during the worship/praise music, and yet they *don't* raise their arms during the message and reading of Bible scripture passages. Why is that? Why don't they raise their arms the whole time?

RSS Feeds - Help Please

I consider myself a techie, but not a super techie. I've tried, multiple times, to start using RSS feeds. I've tried in multiple ways. Most recently, I installed Feedly on my Windows 11. But I'm not able to use it for any RSS feeds. I think Google told me it's one of the easiest to use. What the heck am I missing? What should I be doing instead?
