What makes you trust the quality of an unfamiliar herb or botanical?

I've been thinking about how difficult it can be to judge an unfamiliar botanical when you haven't worked with it before.

Beyond simply trusting what a seller says, what do you personally look for?

Origin and sourcing? How it's processed? Botanical name? Appearance or smell? Testing? Knowing who grew or harvested it?

And are there any immediate red flags that make you avoid something?

Would be really interested to hear how people with more experience in herbalism approach this.

What do you wish you'd understood about Ayahuasca before you first started learning about it?

I'm curious about this from an educational perspective. There seems to be a big difference between how Ayahuasca is discussed online and the depth of knowledge people with real experience bring.

For those who have spent time learning about it, what do you wish you'd understood earlier?

It could be something about the traditions, terminology, cultural context, preparation, expectations, or simply a misconception you had at the beginning.

Interested to hear everyone's perspectives.

What educational content do you wish more websites included?

Hi everyone,

We've recently finished rebuilding our website around traditional Amazonian botanicals, and one of our main goals has been to focus more on education rather than simply listing products.

Before we continue adding new guides, I'd be interested to hear from people in this community:

  • What topics do you think are most misunderstood?
  • What information do you wish botanical websites explained better?
  • Are there any resources you've found particularly helpful over the years?

We're hoping to create genuinely useful educational content, so I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks in advance!
