About S2 E4, the guy burying pets in the backyard
Seems like there’s been a lot of talk about this weird moment and questioning why it happened. My interpretation- it demonstrated Danny’s racial bias and gullibility. After Danny shot the arab man she faced litigation on the prospect of anti-Arab discrimination. Based on her comment comparing the guy to Al-Qaeda a few days before the shooting I think she absolutely was racist. But then here comes this pretty white guy who’s doing something shady and weird and she’s willing to give it a pass and even flirts with him. Only after she realizes the scale of it is larger than she thought does she come to her senses. Danny’s trouble because whereas a lot of the cops in this show are visibly scary and unhinged, she gives the appearance of being well-adjusted when in reality she’s fucked up too.
