Is my math wrong?

Was just looking at the average cost of attendance for the school year and was wondering my logic is correct. I’m just wondering because my parents will pay for my education nd I just want to give them a look into how much they will be paying roughly (I’m kinda bad at explaining things so bear with me please)

Living expenses and tuition/fees seems to be pretty straightforward. Around 24k for both.

Books and supplies are about 1k and transportation + personal another 4k.

Is it unreasonable to assume that my parents will only pay the 24k and I can pay the rest or is that wrong.

Also, if I live at home and commute, with my current logic, my parents will only pay ~15k a year since living expenses will be 0 and transportation and personal I can pay for myself. Is my logic logicing or am I completely off, please let me know 🙏🙏🙏

Decision Help

Hello!!! I need some help deciding on which path is best for me. If anyone could provide any experiences or financial assistance, that would be great. For some context, I have three options to decide from.

  1. Attend UNT and live on campus (around 30k a year based on the average cost of attendance)
  2. Attend UNT and live at home (around 27k a year, but it shows that living expenses and food is around 8k a year, but since I’m not getting a meal plan and will be living rent free at home. It’s basically 20k a year. If I’m wrong about this please let me know.)
  3. Attend CC and live at home (around 8k a year but I can get my first year free through a program in my high school.)

I will be majoring in computer engineering and so far I have around 8k in scholarship money and a 3.5k subsidized loan. I’m not too worried about debt just as long as it’s nothing crazy. I want to prioritize being active in the community and plan on joining some clubs and sport teams. Right now I’m focused on attending UNT so it’s essentially a question of if it’s worth it.
