Mangos Mediterranean Grill (1247 N High St. Basically 5th ave and High)

I checked this place out for lunch today after seeing the thread from three days ago about the best chicken shawarma wrap in Columbus.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Columbus/comments/1v9fiug/best_chicken_shawarma_wrap_in_columbus_ranked/

u/Lukenator24 definitely didn't steer me wrong. This is some of the best chicken shawarma I've had in Columbus. Super juicy and seasoned well. My wife ordered the steak wrap, and it was equally good and incredibly filling.

For some reason, they cut my wrap into bite sized pieces while leaving hers as one giant wrap, ok, whatever, who cares.

I also ordered the falafel (as always). It was really good, although I still give the edge to Sumac's. That said, I'd happily order it again because falafel.

As soon as we walked in, the owner gave us a free sample of the chicken and rice, which confirmed that ordering the chicken was the right move. He also threw in a generous portion of bread (Syrian?) and hummus at no charge. Oh, and a mountain of fries.

This is a takeout only spot, and I'd bet they're going to crush it on the apps.

The hospitality was off the charts. Highly recommend checking it out. Thanks again, r/Columbus, for pointing me in the right direction.

Uncle Frico’s pizza (200 W. Lane ave.)

Yesterday I tried the new thin crust pizza spot from the guys behind Sexton's. To get this out of the way right up front: I'm a big Sexton's fan. I consistently rank them at the top of my NYC style pizza list in Columbus. (I know some people don't like the char)

This one was really good if you're looking for something a little different. It's thin crust, but not like your typical square cut Columbus pie. It's clearly cooked in a pan, giving it crispy edges you'd expect from a Detroit style pizza just without all the thickness.

If I had one minor critique, I'd say the underside could use just a touch more crispness to cut down on some of the flop. But honestly, it's not a big deal.

Once the students are back, I have a feeling this place is going to be packed, so if you're a fellow new pizza place seeker like me, now might be the time to check it out.

We also got the wings, and they were very good. That said, I'm far from a wing expert so take that review as amateur.

Second photo is the menu which is bigger than you would expect.

Half Butter Chicken half Paneer Makhani pizza from Moon Pizza (Hilliard)

I'd been hearing about Moon Pizza and its Indian flavored pizzas for a while, and I finally found myself in Hilliard yesterday. If you're looking for something different, it's definitely worth a try.

I couldn't tell a huge difference between the two halves (I'm no expert on Indian food), but I enjoyed both. The crust was the standout for me, soft and chewy.

Also ordered the samosas, and they were a 10/10. I might have liked them even more than the pizza.

Chilaquiles Torta from Orale Guey Worthington

I've read countless recommendations of Orale Guey when people ask about great Mexican food on this sub. I haven't made it to the downtown location but I tried the newly opened Worthington place on Saturday. Everyone was right... this is the best Chilaquiles I've had in Columbus. There is fried chicken, beans, and bread under all that but honestly I didn't need any of that. I travel to Mexico at least once a year and Chilaquiles is my go to dish. Who doesn't want to eat chips for breakfast? Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.

What else do people really like from here? Thanks for the recommendation r/columbus

I’m a big Zaytoon fan and was expecting this to be similar and in some ways it is, but I’d actually say it’s better. I got the gyro/döner meat over rice, and it’s carved straight off the vertical rotisserie, which is a huge step up from the frozen, flat-top stuff you get at a lot of fast-casual spots.

The biggest shoutout goes to the falafel and the hot sauce, though. The falafel might honestly be the best I’ve ever had—I wasn’t expecting that at all. And the hot sauce is really unique.

Shoutout again to u/NebulaOk9523 and everyone in this thread for the recommendation: https://www.reddit.com/r/Columbus/comments/1t11biq/giving_shout_to_sumac_mediterranean_grill/
