Importing personal Dmax from Australia

Heading back to Chch after a decade in Aus.

I love my 2013 Dmax (Daisy the Dmax), legend of a vehicle has never skipped a beat. Currently 234,000kms. I'm the second owner, looks like she would sell in Perth for AUD~20k

Wasn't going to bring her, but there don't look to be a whole lot of older Dmax's around in Canterbury.

Will cost AUD~3k to ship Perth to Chch.

Any idea if it would be worth it?

What the process like once she gets to Lyttleton to register etc..?

If I don't bring her with me, I'd be buying another 4jj1 Dmax.

Random insane cramping then fainted, teleheath said to go ED, I feel like that's overkill

Hello all!

Joys of being a woman.

IUD inserted April 2025.

No other medical history, very healthy and 'regular' body (to my knowledge!).

Got home from work, felt like I needed to pee, couldn't pee but lower abdominal cramps started.

Cramping gained intensity over a couple of minutes, stumbled to other room to inform husband and ask for some panadol.

Stumbled back to bed, tried to get comfortable to ride out the cramps, couldn't get comfortable.

Husband arrived with panadol asap and was hell spooked, I took the panadol, breathing suddenly got hard and then fainted within seconds.

Husband says my hands and lips went purple, I remember lowering myself to lay on the ground in recovery position (felt faint).

Garmin recorded minimum heart rate of 41bpm when fainted.

Came to within a minute to a panicking husband, instructed him to call govt nurse hotline.

Abdominal cramping was still hectic at this time.

Spent 20min talking on the phone with nurse and husband, just to be told to present to the nearest ED asap.

By this time cramping is subsiding and I'm starting to normalise so I decide not to go to ED (current wait it 2hrs and they'd just tell me to book a GP appt...).

I feel mostly fine, no bleeding, cramps already mostly gone.

What the hell.

Anyone had this happen before?

Ageing doggy dementia hard to live with, would love some advice!

To begin, I know I am so lucky to have a dog who is living long enough for this to be an issue. Please don't get my frustration wrong, being frustrated by a critter I love so much is part of what makes it so frustrating ☹️

She's an almost 13yo Irish Setter, in the last year shes been gradually losing her mental capacity.

She's been checked out by her vet and a specialist ophthalmologist who give her a clean bill of health. Recently had a dental, flagged slightly elevated liver enzymes but they weren't alarmed due to her age.

She often gets lost in space, which is fine if you're not in motion but moving around her is becoming an issue. She often moves into your way instead of out of it, which is stressful to live with 24/7 (she's not small!).

She often forgets things have happened, in a more extreme way than historically. She forgets shes gone for a run and wants to go again immediately (will run until her feet bleed, even with boots on), she forgets she's had meals.. etc... Her trying to make these things happen again can get frantic, I try pop her into bed/ open crate to settle her where possible.

She can't go off lead anymore without getting lost, even in dog parks. If anything is below snoot height she won't see it and will trip over it (anything from shoes, to other dogs).

She obsessively licks anything and everything when awake, the floorboards are becoming a slipping hazard. I mop to keep on top of it as much as I can. The noise is also irritating, I've taken to wearing headphones around the house during the day.

Speaking of mopping, she pees inside now too 😭

When she goes for on lead walks she obsessively barks, I've noticed it lessens when she's in a less stimulating area but those are hard to find where we live.

There's a private dog park near us I love to take her to, but it's popular and often booked out.

When she sleeps it's literally like she's almost dead, it's terrifying but she's okay?! Just crusty without being crusty? She's fit as a fiddle and doesn't look old when she's awake!

I work from home and these behaviours are coming up often enough now I'm becoming frequently frustrated with her (despite loving her to death, I promise she's the most well loved dog you'll meet).

Anyone have tips for lifestyle management?

She's not dropping dead anytime soon according to her vet! Its a blessing but it means some things need to change management wise so I don't have a mental breakdown 😅

How to improve laminate bathroom vanity without replacing?

Colour makes me sad but it's still very functional so don't want to replace.

Is painting the only option?
