First Pack - Ultralight for Overland Track?

First Pack - Ultralight for Overland Track?

We booked our first multi-night hike, the OLT in Tassie for April next year.

As advised, I've started compiling gear (and a shopping list) before deciding on a pack to take. I note most recommendations here are for something 65 litres or more, preferably more, but my pack list would suggest I could probably get away with a smaller ultralight or hybrid style pack.

Am I missing stuff here or does really come down to using ultralight gear allowing for ultralight packs? And is an extra kilo and carrying capacity offset by comfort?

Thanks in advance!

Polarized vs sweet spot for the 8-10hr/wk rider, 6+ month n=1 reports wanted

Read the same studies everyone has. They seem to cancel out at this volume. Curious to hear from people who've actually run both protocols for 6+ months and tracked CTL, FTP, and event results. Especially interested in masters athletes since that's where I sit.

Built a trainer app for Kinglake / Donna / 1 in 20 because I didn't want another subscription

Just wanted to ride Kinglake, Donna Buang and the 1 in 20 on the trainer without paying a monthly fee for the privilege. Didn't think it'd be that hard. Turned out it wasn't.

Since then I've been playing around with some funny additions and an Apple Watch HR app, mostly so I don't have to strap a wet HR monitor on at 5am in Panton Hill when it's 4 degrees in the shed.

Not publicly available, just a thing I built for myself. If you want a TestFlight link to install it on your iPhone or iPad, DM me and I'll send one over. Happy to have a few testers kick the tyres and tell me what they'd want added.
