I have studied so much in the past week and i still dont feel ready for my exam on physics 121 tomorrow 🥲
I was in flow state. I had a page down already. I HATE these college laptops!!
My shit froze before I could save anything. Every single lap top i ever borrowed from this college has the exact same problem FUCK!!
Think about it. Humans have existed for some hundred thousands of years (roughly 300,000) The digital world of social media has only existed in our life time for the last 30 years. 30 out of 300,000. We are the first generation to live with this digital world of socializing. The total daily screen time between millenials and Gen z is between 6-9 hours a day.
I geneuinely believe that our phone usage and addiction to social media will have long term impacts on us that we wont know about until much later in our lives but very early than the last generations. I dont speak on only psychological but neurological as well.
Like we are still in the early stages of research when it comes to this topic. Studies still dont have enough evidence that excessive phone use can cause things like dementia, alzeimers, or any other neurological or even psychological repercussions, but I believe this is because we are the first generation experiencing this and we are still young. The damages our phones are potentially causing havent caught up yet. Atleast not the neurological stuff yet.
The scary thought i have is that we wont find evidence of negative repercussions from excessive phone use until it catches up on us in the next few years and then the researchers will finally have evidence to support the argument that social media and phone addiction can cause neurological issues.
And not just that but we have our hands on our phones consistently everyday. We touch our phones roughly 180+ times a day. The majority of our phone cases are made of plastic.
"2025–2026 studies have begun to find microplastics in human brain tissue and cerebrospinal fluid. In animal models, these particles have been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier, where they can trigger oxidative stress and neuro-inflammation—factors that are closely tied to the progression of neurodegenerative diseases." (Found from research)
Idk. Im not a scientist or someone with a medical back ground but its something ive been thinking for a while now.
And i might be getting overdramatic with this part but I dont feel our generation will have an overall long life span compared to the previous generations due to the microplastics but this could be a whole other topic.
Its also a personal realization ive had with how I use my phone and how ive noticed people in my age range have become so dependent on it that they rarely pay attention to their own lives.
I personally have already experienced some neurological repercussions to excessive phone use and trying to work on making a serious change on this.
We are headed towards a sad future. I really want to let go of my smart phone but its sadly become a use of my everyday life.
Anyways just wanted to share this cause i havent been able to stop thinking about it for some time now 😮💨
Im planning on switching and on the search for a shampoo bar soap that's great for low porosity hair. I have been using Japanese shampoo brands for over a year now because they're great in my hair and leave my hair very soft and shiny. Im also prone to dandruff id in not consistently using dandruff shampoo and the current Japanese shampoo I use takes care of that well.
Im almost out of the shampoos but even though the shampoos are great they can be super expensive and I use it up very quick.
So i need recommendations if anyone knows of good bar soaps that are great for dandruff, low porosity and frizz?
Im reviewing...I did so well on all my exams..and now that I'm studying for the final suddenly I dont remember anything 😀
Do you think taking these in the same semester is a good idea? Doable or too much? This is 11 credits.
Looking from brands with 100% organic fiber active wear thats affordable. Can anyone recommend me your favorite brands?
This is a total of 11 credits. My advisor suggested id take differential equations next semester cause apparently it builds off calc 3 but I really want to get through as many classes as I can in each semester.
Do you think taking these classes in the same semester is safe?
Im currently a part time student at umbc and work as a dental assistant. Im an older student (31f) and been looking around for a room to rent on a budget (600/month max) im trying to stay at a reasonable distance between umbc and my job and looking to stay a year minimum.
If interested let's talk about it in a dm. No more scamming please I gave up on craigslist...
Edit: location preferences im looking at would be odenton, severn, Hanover, glenburnie, catonsville..anywhere in Anne arundel County is fine
Yeah I couldnt figure that one out. And I saw every other student around me stuck on the same one. It was not in any of our review exams 🥲
What classes are you taking next semester?
I decided on physics 122H and calc 3. I really want to take a third class but my options arent the best. Its between physics 109 (becoming a physicist), or cmsc 201. My advisor suggested id take differential equations in the next semester. Im officially a junior after this semester ends and I wanna get through this as fast as i can 😭
Bruh I have not for the life of me been able to study for the past 2 weeks 😭✌🏻
For example today I just realized I could save alot of money on toilet paper if I installed a bidet on to my toilet. I didnt know what that was until about an hour ago lol and initially I assumed this is probably going to be an expensive type of system that ill have trouble installing myself but when I looking online there were many on amazon and I was surprised how affordable this stuff was.
Now im considering doing this when I move into my own place in the future. Ill probably still buy toilet paper but it wont be as frequent as it used to be if I have a bidet.
Another thing im considering doing is making my own skin/hair care products at home mostly due to health reasons but after doing some research I realized i could make a ton of non toxic healthy personal care stuff at home with just basic household items as well as cleaning stuff.
Anyone who's been living a non toxic lifestyle for a few months or even years like 90% non toxic, have you noticed any changed to your overall health ever since you started this new lifestyle?
Ive just started transitioning into this new lifestyle and so far its been a bit pricey but I know over time as I continue to replace things and live a more simple life like making my own household things as well I won't soend as much as I used to.
One big reason why I decided to start this is becauss I have an autoimmune disease. Before I started focusing on changing the fabric I wear and everyday things I use I was focusing on my diet to improve my current health issues.
Diet can make a huge difference but now im curious if anyone who's been living a non toxic lifestyle for a while now and reducing your microplastic absorption have you noticed any changes with your health?
Today I received my 100%organic cotton bed sheets and when I checked the bed sheets I was sleeping in before I was shocked to see it was 100% polyester and I HATED that bedsheet because of how easily it attracted dirt particles.
Once I got the new bed sheet I threw that old one away asap and I already changed a couple other things like floss (i suspect the previous flosses i was using was causing inflamed gums), toilet paper, toothbrush, pads, and next up it will be intimates.
Anyways would like to hear about your experiences
I want to slowly overtime with my budget have a more non toxic lifestyle until I no longer own anything toxic (if thats even possible but will try).
Ive started with Healthcare stuff that i use daily so far like floss, pads, toothbrushes, still working on toilet paper, and other bathroom/kitchen essentials.
Im going to throw away plastic kitchen stuff and replace them with natural/organic material next.
I usually go to sprouts or amazon to buy these things but sprouts can get a bit too pricey after some time and Amazon is great but idk if I cant trust everything they claim to be non toxic.
The one thing I really have on my mind alot right now though is clothing especially intimates. I already have an autoimmune disease and after learning that microplastics are endocrine disrupters i really have a strong focus on changing the clothing I wear.
Thankfully I dont own alot of clothes. Im a bit of a minimalist and can easily and quickly replace everything I have but when ever I shop online for organic material clothing (and bed sheets) they can be very expensive.
I found a few online stores that look decent and two that have affordable prices.
But id like to know, for people who entered a non toxic lifestyle on a budget how did you do it?
Im contemplating buying her Henley short romper because theres no returns or exchanges but ive heard they run small? Anyone tried this romper before? Im 5'4 weigh 150lbs and wear 34C cup size. Ive been able to get away with wearing between S-M sizes in other brands, but im worried even the medium will be too small for me in this romper. Plus ive also been losing weight.
I'm curious to see what people who got their degree in physics are doing for work now and im specifically talking about people who are actually currently (or were) putting their degree to use.
Anyone know if exam 6 is on the 1st or 8th? Usually our exams are every 2 weeks but on syllabus it says 8th? I'm confused.
