LO’s eating 4oz every 2 hours at 6 weeks?

My baby’s going through his first leap (he started smiling yesterday🖤) and for the last couple of days he eats like CRAZY.

Previously he had around 3-3.5oz and now our paediatrician said to give him full 4oz and feed him on demand instead of waiting 2,5-3 hours between feeds.

I trust my paediatrician, she’s amazing, but my LO had awful colics at 3-4 weeks because he was overfed (we were giving him 4oz then because that’s what other paediatrician recommended, we’re not seeing him anymore). He’s almost twice that age now so I think 4oz is okey? But I’m worried about feeding on demand because sometimes he wants to eat even after 1.5h and I’m afraid it’s too much food too soon?

I hope his feedings will get back to normal after the leap is over, but it’s already been 6 days and he’s insufferable sometimes 🥲

Is this the first leap??

My boy is 6 weeks old and he’s still not smiling, not looking at our faces etc..

Couple days ago he started to have some heavy troubles with sleeping -he gets really upset when we try to put him to sleep, he wants to be held all the time and it’s easier to put him to sleep while holding him, but he starts immediately crying again when he falls asleep and we try to put him into his bed. He also wakes up more often for feeding (we’re on formula only), normally he had no troubles sleeping 3 or even 4 hours and now 2-2,5h is typical.

Is he having his first leap?? I feel like he has but I’m a FTM so I have no idea lol

Hi all, FTM here, barely 3 weeks PP. My son is formula fed and I’m having overall troubles with feeding him. Sorry for the long post but I’m struggling :(

First thing is the amount, I am stressing if he’s not getting too much. He eats between 80 and 110ml every 2,5-3 hours. Do you think that’s okay?

Another thing is, normally he wakes up like after 2,5 hours but falls asleep again and I need to wake him up after another half an hour for feeding. He usually doesn’t have any troubles with eating then and is overall happy and calm. But sometimes he wakes up early, like after 2 hours or less and is so distraught he immediately starts crying. I’m not even sure if it is for food because when I give him the bottle he eases up for a second and after like 30ml he starts to wriggle and bend like crazy, so I stop the feeding, but he starts to cry like immediately after because he wants food. I always try to burp him couple times during feeding but when he’s so distraught it’s basically impossible, so we kind of go in circles where he’s both wanting and not wanting food.

So around 6 hours ago another situation like that occurred and he literally threw up right in the middle of feeding. He ate maybe 40ml so it couldn’t be too much food. Since then he was falling asleep for like half an hour and woken up hungry, crying again, so I been giving him little portions. Hour and a half ago he finally ate the full portion (110ml) and my husband was able to put him to sleep, which he is now, he’s sleeping in my arms as I’m writing this.

He also used to vomit like 3-4 times during last couple days but I think it’s mine and my husband’s fault because we overfed him those couple of times. His vomits are never yellow, always white so they basically look like formula.

I seriously have no idea what to do to make his feeding better, because theoretically our feeding is great -both him and the bottle are in the right position, I burp him regularly, our bottle has a slow flow so he definitely doesn’t eat too quickly.

I’ve scheduled a meeting with our paediatrician tomorrow morning because I just don’t understand my son and his needs and I constantly think I’m somehow harming him :( but I thought I’ll ask here if anyone had been through something similar or has some advice? Thank you in advance!
